Bakeneko

Bakeneko Traits


Your bakeneko character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2.

Age. If a cat is capable of becoming a bakeneko, it usually has by the time it is 7-8 years old, and mere months later it is ready to go on adventures. A bakeneko usually lives to be a little over 30, but some live longer than a century.

Alignment. Bakeneko tend strongly towards evil; however, the nature of their evil is usually more mischievous than malicious. Those treated well by their owners as cats are sometimes good, but such cats seldom become bakeneko.

Size. Bakeneko grow very quickly after transforming, reaching up to 3 feet and averaging around 30 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision. Nocturnal by nature, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Ghostly Resilience. You have advantage on saving throws to resist the effects of necromancy spells.

Haunting Pyrokinesis. You know the control flames cantrip. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it. In addition, as a bonus action on your turn, you can produce a small, harmless flame on the tip of your tail that sheds bright light in a 5-foot radius and dim light for an additional 5 feet. This flame goes out if you die, and you can use control flames to extinguish it as normal.

Slight Build. You count as one size smaller when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Speak with Small Beasts. Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with Small or smaller beasts. As former cats, bakeneko know the language of animals.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Abyssal.


Ho'o

Ho'o Traits


Your ho’o character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Age. Ho’o are not born, but created fully-formed with a degree of hereditary knowledge, and it is therefore possible for a ho’o adventurer to be less than a year old. A ho’o typically lives to be around 75 years old and almost never lives to be older than 100.

Alignment. Ho’o tend almost exclusively towards good, and under normal circumstances only those separated from their kin ever become evil.

Size. Ho’o are always within an inch of 5 feet, 7 inches in height, and weigh around 150 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Celestial Resistance. You have resistance to necrotic damage and radiant damage.

Darkvision. Through your celestial origin, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Healing Hands. As an action, you can touch a creature and cause it to regain a number of hit points equal to your level. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Light Bearer. You know the light cantrip. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for it.

Radiant Soul. Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing your eyes to glimmer and two luminous, incorporeal wings to sprout from your back.

Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. During it, you have a flying speed of 30 feet, and once on each of your turns, you can deal extra radiant damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra radiant damage equals your level.

Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial.

Kitsune

Kitsune Traits


Your kitsune character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity and Wisdom scores increase by 1.

Age. Kitsune age relatively quickly, reaching adulthood before they turn 12. They rarely live past 60.

Alignment. Kitsune culture values freedom, and most kitsune are chaotic good.

Size. Kitsune stand up to 5 feet tall in their natural form and typically weigh around 80 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Intuitive. You have proficiency in the Insight skill.

Shapechanger. As an action, you can polymorph into any humanoid that you have seen, or back into your true form. However, your equipment does not change with you. If you die, you revert to your natural appearance.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and two other languages of your choice.


Koma'inu

Koma'inu Traits


Your koma’inu character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age. Koma’inu are slow to mature, with most reaching adulthood in their mid to late 20’s. They live to be up to 200 years old.

Alignment. Koma’inu feel an instinctual urge to come to the defense of others and have a tendency to be lawful good. They stray from the path of good somewhat more readily than law.

Size. Koma’inu are massive, standing well over 7 feet tall and weighing upwards of 400 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. When your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Mountain Born. You’re acclimated to high altitude, including elevations above 20,000 feet. You’re also naturally adapted to cold climates, as described in chapter 5 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide.

Natural Athlete. You have proficiency in the Athletics skill.

Powerful Build. You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Stone’s Endurance. You can focus yourself to occasionally shrug off injury. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a d12. Add your Constitution modifier to the number rolled, and reduce the damage by that total. After you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Primordial.

Ningen

Ningen Traits


Your ningen character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your ability scores each increase by 1.

Age. Ningen reach adulthood in their late teens and live less than a century.

Alignment. Due to the rigidity of their society, ningen tend towards law, but only slightly. Ningen who rank higher within their empire are almost always evil, but the common folk tend towards neither good nor evil.

Size. Ningen vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Ningen often learn the language of the dominant race of the territory their colony oversees. They learn it as children during formal education and speak it as fluently as they do Common.


Oni

Oni Traits


Your oni character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age. Oni mature quickly, reaching adulthood around age 4. They live to be around 80 years old.

Alignment. The oni are savage and revel in cruelty and are usually chaotic evil. Even an oni raised by another race will have trouble resisting their infernal heritage.

Size. Oni are larger and heavier than most races, often nearly 7 feet tall and never shorter than 5 and a half feet. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision. Accustomed to life beneath the surface, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Menacing. You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.

Relentless Endurance. When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Savage Attacks. When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Infernal.

Ryu

Ryu Traits


Your ryu character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution, Intelligence, and Charisma scores increase by 1.

Age. Ryu reach maturity at around age 25 and can live for over 500 years. Those who attain great power are said to transform into mighty dragons at the time of their passing.

Alignment. Ryu tend towards law and seldom waver from their values. They do not often take sides in matters of good and evil.

Size. Ryu live in the depths of the ocean, where high pressure prevents them from growing particularly tall. They average just over 5 feet in height. Those that are raised from youth on the surface can grow to be just over 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet, and you have a swimming speed of 30 feet.

Amphibious. You can breathe air and water.

Control Air and Water. A child of the sea, you can call on the magic of elemental air and water. You can cast fog cloud with this trait. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast gust of wind with it, and starting at 5th level you, can also cast wall of water with it. Once you cast a spell with this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Emissary of the Sea. Aquatic beasts have an extraordinary affinity with your people. You can communicate simple ideas with beasts that can breathe water. They can understand the meaning of your words, though you have no special ability to understand them in return.

Guardian of the Depths. Adapted to even the most extreme ocean depths, you have resistance to cold damage, and you ignore any of the drawbacks caused by a deep, underwater environment.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic.


Tengu

Tengu Traits


Your tengu character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Intelligence score increases by 1.

Age. Tengu reach physical maturity at age 50 and can live to be 300.

Alignment. Tengu are almost exclusively chaotic. In matters of good and evil, they tend towards whichever most annoys those in charge.

Size. Tengu are around 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Claws. You are proficient with your unarmed strikes, which deal 1d4 slashing damage on a hit.

Flight. You have a flying speed of 50 feet. To use this speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Sylvan.
