Way of the Phantom Fist

Monks of the Phantom Fist draw energy from another plane. They focus their Ki and bring forth a phantom hand, a mirror of their own fist. Given training and courage, they can master this connection to manifest this energy into their own body and drain it from others. The Way of the Phantom Fist is both dangerous and rewarding, and the monks who train in it are sought for their incredible mystical capabilities.

Phantom Fist

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you have learned to make a fist of pure energy.

You learn the Mage Hand cantrip if you don't already have it. Additionally, you may use your Mage Hand to make a Phantom Strike. You may cast the Mage Hand cantrip and use this special attack as part of the same action.

Phantom Strike: You gain a ranged spell attack that you can use as an Action. The attack has a range of 30 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Wisdom modifier to its attack and damage rolls. It's damage is Force damage, and its damage dice is equal to your Martial Arts die.

When you use the attack action on your turn to make this special attack, you may choose to spend 1 Ki point to make two additional attacks Phantom Strikes as a bonus action.

For the Way of the Phantom Fist, the mage-hand cantrip is a concentration spell with a duration of one minute.

Drag of the Beyond

Starting at 6th level, your use of a phantom might has enabled you to slow down an enemy.

As a reaction when a large or smaller enemy within 30 feet of you attempts to move, you may spend 1 Ki point and they make a strength saving throw against (8 + Wisdom modifier + Proficiency bonus). On a failure, the creatures movement is reduced by (5 * martial arts die). Nothing happens on a success.

Touch from the Nether

Starting at 11th level, your magic hand manifests as part of your own body. As an action, you can choose to manifest your phantom strength into one of these actions. These are concentration effects. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

  1. Strength of Arms: For ten minutes, your abilities are enhanced by a set of phantom limbs. You gain a climbing speed and a swimming speed equal to your movement speed.

  2. Mystic Manifest: For one minute, you prepare yourself against incoming attacks, your mind ready to strike back. When you take the dodge action, you may use your reaction to make a Phantom Strike attack against one foe that misses you with a melee attack.

  3. Might of the Mind: For one minute, you cast Mage Hand with the following additional properties:

    • The Mage Hand may carry a weight up to (10 * Wisdom Modifier) pounds.
    • The Mage Hand deals double damage against inanimate objects and structures.
    • The Mage Hand has a range and speed of 45 feet

Hand of the Master

Starting at 17th level, you mastery over the powers of the phantom fist have reached their true potential. You gain the ability to cast Bigby's Hand as though it were a 5th level spell. This ability costs 6 Ki points. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this.
