Swamp Soul

Secrets of the mud besiege the minds of those chosen by fate or circumstance to be molded by it. Besides the many powerful and dangerous creatures that dwell in the bogs and wetlands, a decrepit arcane force comes from within the tar black forest shade and the numerous enchanted herbs, roots, and minerals not found anywhere else.

And so, as one manifested from any of these forces, your physical and metaphysical form adapts to the hallowed and lost knowledge hidden within the swamp. At your option, you can pick from or roll on the Swamp Sorcerer Quirks table to create a quirk for your character.

Swamp Sorcerer Quirks
d6 Quirks
1 Your hair becomes dreaded and thorned, resembling vines.
2 When excited or overwhelmed, your eyes begin to focus on seperate things.
3 Filth follows you and you've learned to accept it.
4 Puffs of gas smelling of a humid meadow bubble from your skin when frightened.
5 Certain patches of skin begin to grow bark.
6 Your dulled taste buds don't respond to any taste less than face melting heat.

Grasping Mud

When you choose this Bloodline at 1st level, your core is strengthened and your appenages become perfectly flexible. Gain advantage on Grappling opponents and Concentration checks while grappling.

Additionally, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class.

Death Spin

At 1st level, your arcane offense becomes as dangerous up close as it is far away. When you Cast a Spell that Targets only one creature and doesn’t have a range of self, you can spend a number of sorcery points equal to the spell’s level to change the range to touch (1 sorcery point if the spell is a cantrip).

If you are grappling multiple people at one time and cast a spell with the range of touch, everyone you are grappling is targeted by the spell.

Sour Weeping

6th level opens your pores for a natural sap to seep from you onto your enemies to create an unconventional attack that makes use of your plant like anatomy. When someone ends their turn in your grapple, they take 1d8 Acid damage. Spend one sorcery point to add your Charisma modifier to the damage.

Unbreaking Clasp

Beginning at 14th level, your heartyness can be attributed to the regenerative qualities not only of the medicinal herbs but also many monstrosities lurking within the swamps shallow bogs. Whenever you roll initiative and you have no sorcery points left, gain 1 sorcery point.

Additionally, when moving grappled enemies your speed is not reduced by half.

Willow's Heart

Reaching 18th level unlocks your closest connection to this homeland available to your mortal coil. As the coils of elemental arcana bind to you, you take on a new form born of the enchanted mud and roots. You can spend 5 sorcery points to transform into a Weeping Willow Treant for 1 hour or until you choose to return to your normal form with a bonus action:

  • Your creature type becomes Plant
  • Your size becomes Large
  • Your Reach is increased by 5 feet
  • Your speed is increased by 5 feet
  • Add your Charisma modifier to Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
