College of Skalds
Some bards eschew performance as entertainment and follow a martial path, one of the war herald, battle rouser, or simply Skald. These people have mastered the use of voice as both instrument and weapon, able to inspire and protect allies, hestiate foes and even channel raw magic through voice alone.
College of Skalds
Songs of War
At 3rd level when you take this college, you gain proficency with martial weapons, shields and heavy armour.
Additionally, the spellcasting components of Bard spells change for you. All Bard spells now require a Verbal component, and do not require a Somantic component. Additionally, your Voice can be used as a Spellcasting Focus in place of Material components.
Deathchant
Begining at 3rd level, you learn how to perform a Deathchant. As a bonus action, you can expend one Bardic Inspiriation die to begin a Deathchant. The Deathchant targets one creature within 60 feet of you who can hear you.
If the creature is friendly, it gains advantage on Wisdom, Inteligence and Charisma saving throws, and resistance to one of Bludgeoning, Piercing or Slashing damage from non-magical weapons.
If the creature is hostile, it gains disadvantage on Wisdom, Inteligence and Charisma saving throws, and vulnerablity to one of Bludgeoning, Piercing or Slashing damage.
The Deathchant lasts for one minute, and you may only have one Deathchant active at a time. You must concentrate on the Deathchant as if concentrating on a spell. If you stop chanting to talk, cast a spell, or if your ability to talk is removed, the Deathchant ends.
Dismaying Strikes
Starting at 6th level, you have become a fearsome presence upon the battlefield able to dismay your foes. When you hit an opponent with a melee weapon attack, they must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
Battlecall
From 14th level you have gained the ability to inspire even the most common of of folk to battle, feeding themselves with success after success.
When a creature uses a Bardic Inspiration die that you have granted, if the ability check, attack roll, or saving throw was sucessful, then the Bardic Inspiration die is not consumed, and the creature retains it.
When this occurs, you may make one melee weapon attack as a reaction.
