School of Abstraction

As a plucky up and coming wizard of the world, you are shooting to have your name known among the greats. The ultimate praise of a wizard's ability is to have the ability to create and name a spell on your own. Studying this school does not give you that power on it's own, but it allows you to bend and shape the arcane forces to their limits. Create new uses and benefits for spells to the extent of your creativity.

Esoteric Savant

When you become a member of this school at 2nd level, your intense study of the arcane has lead to an amazing prowess in certain subjects. Gain proficiency in the Arcana, History, or Investigation skills. If you already have proficiency in that skill, gain expertise in it.

Energy Curving

Also at 2nd level, your arcane elements become interchangeable. Before you cast a Spell of 1st level or higher that does Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, or Thunder damage you can use a bonus action to change the damage to another type from the list. This can only be done for one damage type per spell.

Arcane Amalgamation

Beginning at 6th level, combining different spells like ingredients in a recipe adds unique flavor to your cast. When preparing spells, choose 2 spells of first level or higher. Once per short rest you can cast both of these spells at the same time, using a spell slot equal to their spell slots combined and using all of the components needed for both spells. You also choose which spell happens first at the beginning of the day. At 6th level, you can combine spells of first level. This rises to 2nd level spell slots at 8th level, 3rd at 12th level, and 4th at 16th.

Alluring Artistry

At 10th level, the knots you tie in the weave of magic create connections only you can see with the eye of a true spell artist. A number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier per long rest, when you cast a spell of 1st level or higher with a spell save you can use a bonus action to either impose disadvantage or choose to focus another ability score. The change must be in the same category physical or mental. For example, a Strength saving throw can be changed to Dexterity or Constitution, while a Wisdom saving throw can be changed to an Intelligence or Charisma saving throw.

Sequence Recognition

Reaching 14th level allows your to finally record your new innovations in arcana in your spell book. When you combine a spell with Arcane Amalgamation, you can choose to add it to your spell book for the normal price per spell level. Additionally, instead of once per short rest you can now cast a number of Arcane Amalgamation spells equal to your Intelligence modifier per short or long rest.
