Background Story

Rowan Buckman was born into what became a large family, with 4 siblings.

Though first born to Malark & Tessele Buckman with a younger sister and the youngest of the family her brother, Rowan also had both an older half-brother and half-sister from her father Malark’s previous relationship.

The large family home, and comfortable upbringing was funded by Tessele’s position in the leading ‘ship family’ of Luskan, and Rowans father crewing on board one of the leading vessels working the city port.

Rowan’s childhood & schooling was unremarkable and she began her early working life in the shipwright guild of Luskan. It was here she first met Tordek a dwarven warrior, of an adventuring party looking in on a ship being built for their patron. Over more visits and becoming friends, Rowan and Tordek arranged a months leave from the shipwrights that she might experience adventuring life.

During this time Rowan discovered in addition to her personality and conversational skills she was adept with both sword & dagger. Spending enough time with the party Rowan begun to understand the skills & abilities of a rogue, her dexterous ways supporting her where brute strength wouldn't. Once returned safely to Luskan Rowan continued to practice the arts of the rogue.

This decision would have a profound impact on her life, as about a year later her oldest brother (Malark's first born & first son) was found murdered.

Rowan was falsely accused and though the evidence wasn't convincing the circumstances were complicated by Rowan's mixed history with her older siblings and the knowledge of the training she continued. She was convicted of the crime. The shipwright & the family pooled their influence and reduced the sentence as much as possible, 2 years and what amounted to effectively exile from Luskan. The guilds and 'ship families' of Luskan could have nothing more to do with Rowan.

Now finding herself just beyond her 24th birthday, free from both the jail and all her past at once, Rowan strikes out heading away from Luskan. With many questions left to answer, who did kill her oldest sibling, who framed Rowan? How much did she continue to care? Did she now just want to build a life well beyond Luskan. Where is Tordek and what are his party up to?
