Way of the Sword

Monks who follow the Way of the Sword focus their trainging on the use of the Longsword, infusing their stikes with Ki. Through meditation and mental discipline folowers of the Way of the Sword hone their minds as sharp as their swords.

The Art Of War

Starting at 3rd level when you choosethis tradition your disciplined meditation and rigorous training gives you the following benefits:

  • Kensei. You may use the Longwsord as a monk weapon
  • Ki Strike. After you hit a creature with an attack with your Longwsord you may use a bonus action to infuse your strike with Ki energy, spending 2 Ki points to deal an additional 2d8 damage. You may spend more Ki points, doing an additional 1d8 per Ki point spent, up to a maximum of 5d8. See the "Spells and Ki Points" table to see maximum Ki points you can spend on one attack.
  • Warrior Poet. You gain proficiency in Performance or one artisan tool of your choice

Unfettered Mind

At 6th level your mental training allows you to sense the flow of Ki without as well as within. You gain Blindsight 20 feet and advantage on initiative checks

One Soul

Beginning at 11th level your training in the Way of the Sword is so extensive any Longwsord you wield becomes an extension of yourself and all your strikes are infused with Ki energy. You add you Wisdom modifier to any damage dealt by your attacks with a Longwsord

Counter Strike

At 17th level you have mastered the art of action without thought, giving you almost supernatural reflexes. When you are the target of a melee attack you may spend 2 Ki point to add your proficiency bonus to your AC. If the attack misses you, you may make a melee attack against the attacker.
