Background Story

Lestari, the youngest of 2 children was born in to a small family within one of the few tribes of elves making their home in the Misty Forest of the Sword Coast.

Lestari's early life was fairly normal, though she did find herself more comfortable on the edge of the forest, away from the organised living within the tribe. To this end she was invited to join the group of rangers tasked with patrolling for and guiding outsiders across the forest earlier than most. The senior guide, Aust Hanali took Lestari under his stewardship and worked hard to prepare Lestari for the wider world.

On one occasion Lestari lead a group of elven guides into an encounter with a band of orcs. Some of the team suffered injuries, but were victorious. While looting the corpses Lestari found on the lead orc a bronze ring of some magical property no one in the tribe could identify.

Over time Lestari also made a good friend of Ander Hornraven a human ranger from the Isle of Ddaere Brist, who also travelled between the cities of Waterdeep and Baldur's Gate the main route on the very western edge of the Misty Forest.

The most significant & recent event in Lestari's life is one of tragedy. Aust, the senior guide and Lestari were betrayed by a member of the tribe who lead a team of rangers into an ambush. Lestari saw Aust and many other of the guides die to a drow incursion.

The scale of the betrayal only became clear when the survivors made it home to find a slaughter. Most of the tribe were dead or dying. All of Lestari's family lay dead among numerous drow corpses, it had been a bloody assault. It appeared for some reason unknown to Lestari and any of the remanants of her tribe, the drow had come to wipe them out.

Knowing that she couldn't stay here at the tribal home, Lestari decided she would take what scraps of evidence she could carry and move on. Her first stops in the cities of Waterdeep & Baldur's Gate did not suit Lestari, so she headed for the island of Ddaere Brist searching for both answers and possible vengeance.
