Description
A Dwarf in chain mail dives behind a rock, narrowly avoiding the dragons raking claws. As the dragon turns and unleashes a torrent of flame the dwarf crushes the small sigil in his hand. The flame envelopes him and the air combusts around him. As the flame subsides the dwarf stands resolute; unsinged.
An elf stands over a small mithril anvil. Hammering down on a small iron trinket. As her hammer swings she mumbles an incantation. Sparks of magic fly off the hammer as it connects. The trinket begins to glow in the moonlight as the magic is imbued.
A dragonborn clad in a half-plate leaps over a large rock, warhammer held high. As he arcs through the air he smashes a small iron sigil into the hammers head. The sigil glows and vanishes into the hammer. Completeing his jump the dragonborn brings his hammer smashing into the chest of a hill giant. The hammer flashes a bright orange light as the force of the rune unleashes sending the giant staggering back. The Dragonborn steadies on his feat and readies another sigil for a second strike.
All of these heroes are Runesmiths. Practicioners of the ancient art of rune crafting. They imbue simple objects and symbols with arcane energy, to be unleashed in a burst of energy, or to subtly enhance the ability of an item or individual for an extended time. Skilled crafters and artisians, runesmiths are often involved in creating items of great power. However runesmiths are not simple folk who hide when trouble errupts. Runesmiths will stand defiantly on the front line of any combat. Ready and willing to defend their allies and friends with might and magic.
