```metadata title: Refine/Distill description: '' tags: [] systems: [] renderer: V3 theme: 5ePHB ``` #### Refine/Distill *4th-level transmutation.* **Casting Time:** :: 10 minutes **Range:** :: 120 feet **Components:** :: V, S **Duration:** :: Instantaneous **Classes:** :: Artificer, Wizard You convert nonmagical materials into unaltered products derivative of those materials. For example, iron ore into iron bars and raw stone, poisoned water into water and poison, bronze into copper and tin, raw wheat into grain and chaff, etc. : Choose raw materials that you can see within range that are not a part of a larger whole (e.g. a section of wall or a cube of ground, but freestanding piles are fine). You can Refine/Distill up to a 10 ft. cube of raw material . If you are working with metal, stone, or another mineral substance, however, the raw materials can fit in no larger than a 5 foot cube. The spell makes two piles of materials; one is the refined product and the other is anything that the caster was not explicitly seeking. The refined pile appears in the space of the original material and the other appears no more than 10 ft. away from the refined pile. This "waste" pile can be targeted for another casting of the spell for a separate component. : If distilling a liquid, the caster must provide separate containers that can hold the two liquids; any liquid that cannot be contained spills on the ground. The spell cannot make objects that would be derivative of these materials (e.g. you can make iron bars from iron ore, but it cannot make those bars into swords). : Creatures or magic items can't be created or transmuted by this spell.
