#### Barbarian Subclass
## Path of the Primeval
The primordial fury of barbarians who walk the Path of the Primeval allows them to tap into a deep-rooted connection they have with the wilds from which they hail, their rage beckoning ancient beasts to their side in battle.
#### LEVEL 3: PRIMEVAL COMPANION
Your innate connection to nature summons a Primeval Beast to your side, whose strength reflects your own prowess. Choose its stat block: Ambushing Beast, Fierce Beast, or Sentinel Beast. You also choose the kind of animal it is, choosing a kind appropriate for the stat block.
:
The Primeval Beast is Friendly to you and your allies and obeys your commands. It vanishes if you die.
:
***The Beast in Combat.*** In combat, the beast acts during your turn. It can move and use its Reaction on its own, but the only action it takes is the Dodge action unless you take a Bonus Action to command it to take an
\column
::
action in its stat block or some other action. You can also sacrifice one of your attacks when you take the Attack action to command the beast to take the Beast’s Strike action. If you have the Incapacitated condition, the beast acts on its own and isn’t limited to the Dodge action.
:
***Restoring or Replacing the Beast.*** If the beast has died within the last hour, you can perform a 10-minute ritual, during which you must remain within 5 feet of it. The beast returns to life at the end of the ritual with all its Hit Points restored.
:
Whenever you finish a Long Rest, you can summon a different Primeval Beast, which appears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you. If you already have a Primeval Beast from this feature, the old one vanishes when the new one appears.
##### Primeval Companion Stat Blocks
The following stat blocks are available to you when you summon your Primeval Companion:

#### LEVEL 3: WILDSPEECH
You can cast *Speak with Animals* but only as a Ritual. Additionally, you benefit from *Speak with Animals'* effects while your Rage is Active, regardless of whether you cast it beforehand or not.
#### LEVEL 6: PRIMAL BOND
When you use Reckless Attack, your Primeval Beast now also benefits from its effects.
:
In addition, whenever it hits with an attack roll and deals damage, it can deal your choice of Force damage or one of its normal damage types.
#### LEVEL 10: FURY OF THE WILDS
When you command your Primeval Beast to take the Attack action, the Beast can make two attacks instead of one.
:
Furthermore, the Primeval Beast gains an additional benefit, which is dependant on its stat block:
***Ambushing Beast:*** The Beast benefits from the effects of Feral Instinct and Instinctive Pounce.
***Fierce Beast:*** The Beast gains a bonus to the damage dealt with its attacks equal to your Rage Damage.
***Sentinel Beast:*** Whenever you use Brutal Strike, the Beast now also benefits from its effects.
#### LEVEL 14: PRIMEVAL PHYSIQUE
Your Primeval Beast's Size increases to Medium.
:
Furthermore, the Primeval Beast gains an additional benefit, which is dependant on its stat block:
***Ambushing Beast:*** An attack made by the Beast against a target that has the Prone condition counts as a Critical Hit on a roll of a 19 or 20.
***Fierce Beast:*** When you use Reckless Attack and command the Beast to take an action, you can also command it to make one attack using its Fierce Strike as a Bonus Action.
***Sentinel Beast:*** The Beast benefits from the effects of Relentless Rage when it drops to 0 Hit Points while your Rage is active.

*Valka's Guide to Vleurland* is a passion project which originally sprung from a desire to create a campaign setting to the homebrew world *Vleurland*, in which the campaign I DM, *Apparat Magicka*, takes place. I have been working on it for a little over two years at this point, but it has grown into something much larger than originally intended. Nearly all of the content I put online is included in *Valka's Guide to Vleurland*, which I intend to at some point release for free. Interested in more? Check out my website or my Reddit profile!
