# Ranger Archetype: Dervish Dancer
Dervish Dancers are the students of the mythical arts of Dervish dance, a special branch of martial arts that involves flamboyant and elegant maneuvers like a sophisticated choreography. Descended among the nomadic tribes, the Dervish dance can be as much as deadly as it is beautiful — which makes the Dervish Dancers graceful and lethal in the middle of the battleground. Notable practitioner of Dervish dance is Drizzt Do'Urden, one of the most notable adventurer and hero of Faerûn. #### Restriction: Dervish Dance Tradition Rangers who choose to become a Dervish Dancer must learn the secret arts of Dervish Dance from a member of the nomadic tribe, or a student of Dervish Dance. #### Bonus Proficiencies Starting at 3rd level when you choose this archetype, you gain proficiency in one of the following skills: Acrobatics, Peformance. #### Dervish Dance You can initiate the Dervish dance, a martial stance that resembles a fervent dancing, provided that you are wielding scimitars or shortswords in both of your hands and not wearing medium or heavy armor. As a bonus action, you can enter the Dervish dance. While you are in the Dervish dance, you gain the following benefits: - When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to make two melee weapon attacks with a scimitar or a shortsword. - When you are subject to a melee attack while you are in the Dervish dance, you can use your reaction to add your proficiency bonus to your Armor Class for that attack. The Dervish dance lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you don medium or heavy armor, if you stop wielding two weapons, or if you are incapacitated. You can also dismiss the Dervish Dance at any time you choose (no action required). You can use this feature twice before taking a short rest or long rest. You regain all uses when you finish a short rest or long rest. Additionally, you can expend one spell slot as a bonus action to regain one use of this feature, or two uses if you expend spell slot of 3rd level or higher. #### Fast and Furious By 7th, while you are in the Dervish dance, you gain the following benefits: - Your walking speed increases by 10 feet. - When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail. #### Dance of Death When you reach 11th level, your fervent dance intensifies as you take life with your blades. ``` ``` > ##### The *Unearthed Arcana* Ranger > If you are using statistics from [the *Unearthed Arcana* article "The Ranger, Revised"](https://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/UA_RevisedRanger.pdf), you can use this subclasses with it if you make one addition: give the subclass the Extra Attack feature. > > **Extra Attack.** Beginning at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
When you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points with a weapon attack on your turn while you are in the Dervish dance, you can use a bonus action to move up to 10 feet and make one weapon attack with a scimitar or a shortsword. If you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points with this attack, you can repeat this as a part of a same bonus action, up to a number equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once). #### A Thousand Cuts By 15th level, you can make a barrage of attacks during your Dervish Dance. While you are in the Dervish dance, you can use an action to make a melee weapon attack with a scimitar or a shortsword against any number of creature within 5 feet of you. You make a seperate attack roll for each creature. Immediately after that, you can expend one spell slot to make one additional weapon attack with a scimitar or a shortsword for each level of expended spell slot, up to four attacks. ## Credits All contents are created by Created by [Weirdo Whoever](http://weirdoworkshop.blogspot.com) unless noted otherwise.
