## Tortaur --- --- *The tortaur resemble a tortle from the waist up but their hind quarters are that of a crocodile. Their scales remain consistent in colour throughout their entire body. Their shell begins at the lower back, and carries on to their head, slightly further than the average tortle's shell. They can withdraw their front legs into their shell, but their back, hind legs and tail remain exposed.* ___ > ## Tortaur >*Medium monstrosity, neutral good* > ___ > - **Armor Class** 16 (natural armor) > - **Hit Points** 91 (14d8 + 28) > - **Speed** 30 ft., swim 60 ft. >___ >|STR|DEX|CON|INT|WIS|CHA| >|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:| >|12 (+1)|15 (+2)|14 (+2)|12 (+1)|17 (+3)|13 (+1)| >___ > - **Saving Throws** Dex +5, Wis +6 > - **Skills** Animal Handling +6, Nature +4, Perception +6 > - **Senses** passive Perception 16 > - **Languages** Aquan, Common > - **Challenge** 5 (1,800 XP) > ___ > ***Hold Breath.*** The tortaur can hold its breath for 2 hours. > > ***Innate Spellcasting.*** The tortaur's spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 14, +6 to hit with spell attacks). --- ***Natural Magic.*** The tortaur draws its magic from the worship and preservation of nature and the elements. Tortaurs are quick to befriend beasts and plants due to their connection to the earth, wind and sea. A tortaur's magic focuses on the different elements and plants. Most tortaurs that are skilled spellcasters go on to become powerful druids, rangers or nature clerics. Some tortaurs are born without the ability to cast spells or attune to nature. Most of these tortaurs train their bodies, using their natural speed to become fierce physical protectors for their kin. ***Defensive Nature.*** Tortaurs are not natural born warriors, but they excel at defending the defenseless and are not easily scared away from confrontation. Tortaurs have a friendly relationship with most races they encounter, especially tortles as their values often align. This relationship can become strained though as over time the subtle differences do become more apparent. ***Draconic Companion.*** The tortaur's familiar usually takes the form of a pseudodragon.
