The tattoo does not grant a benefit initially, but the tattoo ink absorbs a small amount of energy from spells cast at the hunter as well as when they use their blood magic abilities. As the character gains levels, the absorbed magical energies manifest as increased strength and new abilities.

This magic is infused throughout the hunter's body and cannot be dispelled or nullified by anti-magic effects. Once inscribed and any amount of magic has been absorbed, there is no way to remove the tattoo short of permanently killing the hunter or a spell such as Wish.

Strength increases set the character's strength stat to the indicated value and cannot be raised by any other means, even other magical items that grant more strength.

Magical strength-reducing effects can still affect the character, but any saves to reduce strength have advantage.

The AC/Save bonus granted at level 6/11 functions as a cloak/ring of protection and does not stack with similar effects. It does stack with magical armor bonus AC.
