```metadata title: Soul of Ysgard Sorcerer description: ' ' tags: '' systems: - 5e renderer: legacy ``` ### Soul of Ysgard In Ysgard, warriors hone their prowess in battle in a continuous fight for glory, honor, and pride. Those who have spent long years through its harsh seasons, rough terrain, and numerous dangerous monsters eventually begin to absorb the very essence of the plane. Their wounds close faster than their peers, and are harder to inflict upon them in the first place. Through time and lineage, this magic phases in and out of existence. You are a decendent of one who spent countless years among the battlefields of Ysgard, and are blessed by its unique magic. Sorcerers with a Soul of Ysgard are drawn to martial battle, and are often seen side-by-side with barbarians and fighters on the front lines of war. ##### Soul of Ysgard Features | Sorcerer Level | Feature | |:----:|:-------------| | 1st | Ysgardian Body, Against the Odds, Ysgardian Magic| | 6th | Extra Attack | | 14th | Warrior's Focus| | 18th | Ysgard Arisen| #### Ysgardian Magic Your Ysgardian Blood enables you to learn spells not usuaally beheld by sorcerers. You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Ysgardian Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know. Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be an abjuration or evocation spell from the sorcerer, paladin, or warlock list. ##### Ysgard Spells | Spell Level | Spell | |:----:|:-------------| | 1st | Searing Smite, Wrathful Smite| | 2nd | Branding Smite, Flame Blade | | 3rd | Blinding Smite, Elemental Weapon| | 4th | Death Ward, Staggering Smite | | 5thth | Banishing Smite, Steel Wind Strike | #### Ysgardian Prowess Your prowess in martial combat is enhanced by the magic of your ancestor. Beginning at 1st level, you gain proficiency in light and medium armor and shields, and you gain proficiency with three types of melee one handed weapon of your choice, which you can use as a spellcasting focus for your Sorcerer spells. #### Against the Odds Your ancestor found they fought best when the odds were against them, and this has passed on to you. Also at 1st level, when you roll initiative, you gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your proficiency bonus times the number of enemies you can see within 60 feet of you. This cannot give your more Temporary Hit Points than twice your sorcerer level.``` ``` #### Extra Attack Beginning at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the attack action on your turn. #### Ysgardian Ferver Beginning at 14th level, when you make a melee weapon or spell attack, you may spend 2 sorcery points. If you do, attacks of opportunity are made with disadvantage against you until the end of your turn, you gain 10 feet walking speed until the end of your turn, and may make an additional melee weapon attack as a free action. You may use this feature any number of times each turn. For each use after the first, the sorcery point cost to activate Ysgardian Ferver increases by one. For example, if you have used Ysgardian Ferver once already, it costs 3 sorcery points instead of 2. If you have used it 4 times already, it costs 6 sorcery points. You cannot use extra attacks granted by this feature to attack a creature you have already attacked this turn. #### Ysgard Arisen At 18th level, Ysgard's magic suffuses your very being. When you would die, you immediately return to life at 1 hit point. When you do, you may expend any number and level of spell slots. For each spell slot expended this way, you regain a number of hit points equal to that spell slot's level multiplied by itself. (For example, if you expend a 4th level slot, you regain 16 hit points. If you expend an 8th level slot, you regain 64 hit points. A table of hit points regained per spell level can be found below). Additionally, you gain Temporary Hit Points as if you rolled intitiative from your Against the Odds feature. Once you have used this feature, you cannot use it again until 7 dawns have passed. ##### Hit Points Regained per Spell Level | Spell Slot Level Expended | Hit Points Regained | |:----:|:-------------| | 1st | 1 | | 2nd | 4 | | 3rd | 9 | | 4th | 16 | | 5th | 25 | | 6th | 36 | | 7th | 49 | | 8th | 64 | | 9th | 81 | \page > ##### Credits >First, I would like to give thanks to Lilli, who has extensively playtested this subclass, and to all of my other playtesters! > > >Special thanks as well to Homebrewery as well for being such an awesome resource, without which I would be hopeless at formatting! > > >A final special thanks to you, the reader!
