# Survival Elements In the Marmadas Basin, survival is paramount to an adventuring party. Depending on the group of Players travelling can be a breeze, or a nightmare. Here's how you can surive while travelling in Marmadas. ## A Role to Play When travelling in Marmadas, each party member can be of use. With a new Help action introduced in this section Players can now fill slots for, help, or eliminate variables set by the rules of the wilds itself. The following table represents the layout of the Survival system currently in place. | Name | Role | |:----:|:-----| | Guide | Steer the travel of the group in the right direction | | Scout | Aid the Guide in Travel as well as avoid obstacles in the Party's path | | Lookout |  Prevent ambushes at night | | Hunter | Find food to keep the party from going hungry | With this system in place, depending on the length of the journey, at each time increment starting from the top of the list each role rolls a survival check to determine their success. ### Guide The guide is the most important role generally and can determine the length of the journey ahead of them. A smart Player will know to make more than just a Survival check in order to aid them in their journey ahead. Proper research and inquiry is needed in order to maximize the effeciency of the journey ahead. A good Guide can completely cirumvent any future conflict from ever happening, preventing the Scout from being put in the way of harm. ### Scout The Scout is the last line of defense before any conflict has reached the party. Whether it be a broken path ahead or possible attackers the Scout is a dangerous job to undergo. A proficient Scout will know how far ahead to be from the party, the best spots to overlook the terrain, and the proper bird calls in order to communicate back with the group. ### Lookout The Lookout is an easy role to fill, but should not be underestimated. It only takes one especially sleepy party member for everyone to lose their possessions, or worse, their lives. When lookout it's important to note that unless you a spell like Alarm, or the Trance trait, You will lose a night of sleep in being the lookout, giving you one level of exhaustion if you fail a Constitution saving throw. ### Hunter The Hunter is the least necessary role of the group, but can quickly become the most relied upon without the proper class lineup. Hunters roll to determine how much food they can forage from a given area. There are many features that say things like you can sustain your party, and those will be errata'd to areas that you are familiar with. The following table determines how much food you can gain from a given day ##### Pace Modifier | Pace | Modifier | |:----:|:---------| | Slow | 2 | | Normal | 1 | | Fast | 1/2 |
##### Hunter Foraging Table | Difficulty | Rations Gained | |:----:|:-------------| | Desolate | 0 | | Sparse | 1d4 \* Pace Modifier | | Bare | 1d6 \* Pace Modifier | | Average | 1d8 \* Pace Modifier | | Healthy | 1d12 \* Pace Modifier | | Bountiful | 2d6 \* Pace Modifier |
