# Monk Monastic Tradition:
Way of the Enlightened Fist
You follow a monastic tradition that emphasizes not only the purity of body and mind, but also knowledge and training of magical capabilities. To you, magic is but a part of knowledge you seek through your training, and as learning and seeking the knowledge of spellcraft is just as important as improving your physical and mental capabilities. Monks who follow the way of the Enlightend Fist can be often found in cities and large communities, where magic is a part of everyday life. #### Bonus Proficiencies When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Arcana skill. #### Monastic Arcana Also starting at 3rd level, you learn how to channel your ki to cast spells. ***Cantrips.*** You know two wizard cantrips of your choice. You learn an additional wizard cantrip of your choice at 10th level. ***Spell Slots.*** When you cast a spell you know, you can spend a number of ki to create a spell slot, and use that spell slot to cast the spell. The Spells Known column of the Monastic Arcana table shows when you learn more wizard spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be an abjuration or divination spell of your choice, and must be of a level no higher than what is shown in the table's Max. Slot Level column for your level. The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level can come from any school of magic. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level no higher than what is shown in the table's Max. Slot Level column for your level, and it must be an abjuration or divination spell, unless you are replacing the spell you gained at 8th, 14th, or 20th level. **Spellcasting Ability.** Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your wizard spells, so you use your Intelligence whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Intelligence modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a wizard spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one. ##### Table: Monastic Arcana | Monk

#### Elemental Fists When you reach 6th level, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike or a melee monk weapon, you can spend 1 ki to change the damage type of the damage you deal with the attack. You can change the damage type into one of the following: acid, cold, fire, lightning, thunder. #### Arcane Fists Starting 11th level, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike or a melee monk weapon, you can use a bonus action to cast a wizard spell you know.
