Its name means, literally, fire serpent. According to the legends, boitatá is a giant, scaly serpent, covered in fire, usually blue, and sometimes described with a pair of twisted horns. Boitatá is the perpetual protector of the forests from senseless destruction. It is said that staring directly into its eyes can cause people to go insane. Boitatá lives under water in sweet-water rivers that run across Forests. When sleeping undisturbed, it is impossible to detect the presence of Boitatá, as it is perfecly camouflaged with nature and its signature blue flames are suppressed. Boitatá is ever watchful, and its uncanny senses can detect the presence of those who would wish to harm the unscathed wilderness. Boitatá becomes a relentless predator when the forests become endangered, and its wrath can only be placated by punishing the source of the destruction. Those who awaken its fury never live to tell the tale. Boitatá is a servant of the Natural World, and its only purpose is to protect the Forests. Those who do not wish no harm to the natural world need not fear the fury of Boitatá. Those who do must pray that Boitatá is not nearby, for an infuriated Boitatá is a sight to behold, described only in legends. ### Diet and Habits Boitatá is recognized as a Good entity by inhabitants of the forest, and is usually regarded as a Druidic deity. Do not be fooled, though: Boitatá is fair and recognizes no servant. It will punish whoever harms the Forest, regardless of faith. Its diet consists, mainly, of the carcasses of creature that harm the forest. It is especially fond of the eyes, which carry many religious importance in many cultures. They can go without food for years, or even centuries, according to legends. But, at the same time, Boitatá can feed indefinitely, which only fuels its power and ease its rage. \page ___ > ## Curupira >*Small fey, chaotic neutral* > ___ > - **Armor Class** 14 (nautral armor) > - **Hit Points** 35 (4d8 + 9) > - **Speed** 35ft. >___ >|STR|DEX|CON|INT|WIS|CHA| >|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:| >|19 (+4)|12 (+1)|15 (+2)|12 (+1)|18 (+4)|8 (-1)| >___ > - **Saving Throws** Dex +5, Con +, Wis + > - **Skills** Athletics +6, Perception +6, Stealth +3, Survival +6 > - **Damage Resistences** fire, force > - **Condition Immunities** charmed, frightened > - **Senses** darkvision 60ft, passive Perception 16 > - **Languages** Sylvan, Auran > - **Challenge** 3 (700 XP) > ___ > ***Backwards Feet.*** All Survival (Wisdom) checks made to track Curupira are made at disadvantage. > > ***Magic Resistance.*** Curupira has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.. > > ***Woodland Strider.*** Curupira can use a Bonus Action to use the Dash, Hide or Disengage actions. > > ***Mimicry.*** Curupira can perfectly imitate the sound and voices of all Beasts and Humanoids, and they are indistinguishable from the original. > > ***Illusionist.*** Curupira can cast Minor Illusion and Major Illusion at will without components. > ### Actions > ***Multiattack.*** Curupira makes three melee attacks with its fists. > > ***Punch.*** *Melee Attack:* +6 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. *Hit* 5 (1d4 + 4) ``` ``` ### The Legend of Curupira Curupira is perhaps the earliest described mythological entity from the *tupi-guarani* folklore of indigenous tribes in Brazil, registered circa 1560 by Portuguese explorers. Its name, however, may have different interpretations. It comes from the *tupi* word *kuru'pir*, which can mean "body covered in blisters" (from the tupi words kuruba - pustules, blisters - and pira - skin) or "childish body" (from the *tupi* words corumi - boy - and pira - body). Curupira is widely regarded as a benigh entity, protector of woodlands and forests. CUrupira will prey on poachers and hunters that take more than they need, and he also attacks people who hunt animals that were taking care of their offspring. Curupira is a master of deception and illusion, and is able to perfectly mimic the sounds and voices of all Beasts and Humanoids in order to trick its prey. Simultaneously, Curupira will show itself to good creatures who are lost on their journeys and help them find their way. Curupira is only aggressive to those who deserve it. At the same time, Curupira will toy with its prey by deliberately creating illusions to mess with their minds and make them lose their way, becoming lost in the forests. ### Appearance Often described as a small boy, with rough, blistered skin, and a flowing hair made of pure fire, Curupira is also characterized by its feet turned backwards, extreme physical strength and speed. His feet will confuse anyone who might attempt to track a Curupura. Curupira has an angular face, mischievous smile, with sharp teeth, and a pair of pointy ears. Many who have encountered a Curupira, either by malice or luck, tend to describe them as Demons, but they are not fiend. They are Fey spirits created to protecth the forests. It differs from the *saci-pererê* as Curupiras are not mean-spirited and trickster by nature and will only harass those who deserve it.
