```metadata title: Arcane Bloodline Sorcerous Origin description: >- A bloodline for descendants of archmages and other powerful arcane spellcasters. tags: [] systems: - 5e renderer: V3 theme: 5ePHB ``` ### Sorcerer: Arcane Bloodline The blood of a mighty mage runs in your veins, a person whose immense magical skill has impacted their descendants, both direct and indirect. In the *Forgotten Realms* campaign setting, the wizard Elminster Aumar, Chosen of Mystra, is a common ancestor of arcane bloodlines. The pressure of large expectations can sometimes crush these sorcerers, but those that answer their heritage’s call oft become archmages themselves. #### Archmage Spells You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Archmage Spells table. Each spell counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it does not count against the number of sorcerer spells you know. When you gain a level in this class, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be an abjuration or conjuration spell from the artificer, warlock, or wizard spell list. You waive the royalty components of any Archmage Spells you cast. ##### Archmage Spells | Sorcerer Level | Spells| |:--------------:|:------| | 1st |*find familiar, Jim’s magic missile*| | 3rd |*Nystul’s magic aura, wristpocket*| | 5th |*counterspell, magic circle*| | 7th |*arcane eye, Mordenkainen’s private sanctum*| | 9th |*Bigby’s hand, scrying*| \column : #### Instinct for Magic Beginning at 1st level when you gain this Sorcerous Origin, you add your Charisma modifier to Intelligence (Arcana) checks you make. #### Sorcerous Wellspring Starting at 6th level, as an action, you can recover spent sorcery points equal to your proficiency bonus – 1. You can use this action a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. #### Partial Magic Resistance At 14th level, your lineage’s affinity for magic grants you some protection against it. Choose one ability score from Dexterity, Constitution, and Wisdom. Additionally, choose two from Strength, Intelligence, and Charisma. You have advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects which target the selected ability scores. #### Maximized Arcane Potential Starting at 18th level, you are effectively an archmage in your own right. You can cast a leveled spell with a casting time of 1 action and another with a casting time of 1 bonus action on the same turn. You cannot use the Quickened Spell Metamagic to cast the same spell twice in one turn with this feature. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest. {{artist,bottom:73px,left:333px ##### Simon Aumar [© Wizards of the Coast, via D&D Beyond](https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/tg/thieves-gallery) }} ::: ::: ::: {{note ##### Spells Outside the *Player’s Handbook* Two spells in the default Archmage Spells list come from books other than the *Player’s Handbook*. *Jim’s magic missile* comes from *Acquisitions Incorporated*. *Wristpocket* is from *Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount*. }} ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: {{wide
