Jeweler

Specialization

You tune the ambient hum of each gemstone to match whatever spell you shine through it, capturing that special piece of the rainbow. Through these artifical cristalizations of mana, you can offer these focal points of magic to grant any layman the ability to play with spells. ### Jeweler Spells ***3rd-level Jeweler feature***
You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Jeweler Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare. |Artificer Level|Jeweler Spells| |:---:|:--| | 3rd | *Armor of AgathysPHB*, *Chromatic OrbPHB* | | 5th | *Silence, Warding Bond* | | 9th | *Counterspell, Remove Curse* | |13th | *Death Ward, Fire Shield* | |17th | *Circle of PowerPHB, Greater Restoration* | ### Tool Proficiency ***3rd-level Jeweler feature***
You gain proficiency with jeweler's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice. ### Clear Cut ***3rd-level Jeweler feature***
When you cast a spell of a level no higher than half your artificer level (rounded up) while holding a nonmagical gemstone, you can cancel the spell to store it into the gem. The gemstone is magically imbued until you use this feature again, unless the gemstone has a gp worth equal to 50 times the stored spell's level or more (a cantrip requires a gemstone worth 10gp or more). A creature holding an imbued gemstone can crush it to cast the stored spell at the same level it was stored at, without material components and without expending a spell slot. This spell uses your artificer spellcasting ability, spell attack modifier, and spell save DC. Once the spell is cast, the gemstone turns to dust and becomes completely mundane. In addition, creatures can attune to a gemstone imbued this way. While attuned, it can cast the stored spell without crushing it by expending a spell slot as normal. ### Hardness ***3rd-level Jeweler feature***
When you willingly take the effects of a spell, you can choose to gain temporary hit points equal to half your artificer level (rounded up) or reduce the damage you take from one of the spell's damage rolls by your artificer level.

### Reflect ***5th-level Jeweler feature***
When you are targeted by a spell of a level no higher than half your artificer level (rounded up) while holding a gemstone, you can willingly be affected by the spell as a reaction to expend a spell slot of a level equal to at least half the triggering spell's level. Cantrips don't require you to expend a spell slot. When you do, the spell is stored into the gemstone as if you had used your Clear Cut, but the spell is not cancel. At 9th level, you can also immediately attune to the imbued gemstone as a part of the same reaction. ### Refract ***5th-level Jeweler feature***
While a creature wears or holds a magic item bearing one of your infusions, it can cast a spell from a gemstone you are attuned to as if it were attuned to that gemstone itself. ### Multifaceted ***9th-level Jeweler feature***
You have a second reaction you can take each round, but only one reaction per trigger. ### Brilliance ***15th-level Jeweler feature***
While you are attuned to a gemstone imbued with Clear Cut, you can cast the stored spell at its lowest level by expend a spell slot of a level equal to at least half the spell's level. If you use this feature to cast a spell of 6th-level or higher, the gemstone becomes inert until the next dawn.
\page # Additional Notes For The Subclass

This page is not required to play the subclass. It provides bonus content and suggestions for implementing it in the world.

This artificer subclass is inspired by the Blue Mage Specialization by [**Gentlepanda (u/TheExodude)**](https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-LvG1cNw4tA6W__haSPX) and the School of Clear Mages by [**Kingstarman**](https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-NkCqOAhBBvNJy2MAM4I). ## Quick Builds - **Action:** Cast a Spell action (Clear Cut) - **Bonus Action:** Cast a Spell action - **Reaction:** Reflect - **Movement:** Keep enemies within your reach ### Blue Mage You can make a Jeweler Artificer quickly by following these suggestions. First, make Intelligence your highest ability score, followed by Constitution. Second, choose the guild artisan background. - **Equipment:** Light armor, Spellcasting focus - **Cantrips:** *Fire Bolt, Guidance, Prestidigitation, Spare the Dying* - **Spells:** *Absorb ElementsPHB, Cure Wounds, Identify, Sanctuary* - **Feats:** Keen Mind, Tough, War Caster ## Subclass Options & Rules If you need help building a character or you wish to have more character options for the Subclass, you can find it here. ### "Sage Advice" Rulings that should be enforced to properly play the subclass. **Bejeweled.** Clear Cut can imbue gems within jewelery. **Cancel Culture.** A canceled spell still expends a spell slot and any other material components that would be consumed. **Fail Forward.** If you are targeted by a spell that would fail, you can still use your Reflect on it. For example, being targeted by the *Revivify* spell while still alive would cause the spell to fail, but you can imbue the spell into a gemstone as normal. ``` ``` ## Subclass Implementation If you are unsure on how to implement the Subclass into your game world, here are some suggestions on how to do so. ### Creating Jewelers Jewelers able to imbue the gems they cut with the arcane are highly sought after by those of high standing, whether they are royalty, nobles, grand wizards, crime lords, etc. As such, they can either be found working under these authority figures or found working on projects related to them within a self-owned atelier. On occassion, one can find a jeweler working amongst [**clear mages**](https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-NkCqOAhBBvNJy2MAM4I) as they attempt to unlock the latent potential of all gemstones and learn how to reach the true name of everything touched by the world. ### Quests For The Subclass A collection or quests to become the subclass. **Diamond In The Rough.** A disgruntled jeweler is looking for an apprentice worthy of sharing their arcane knowledge with. Upon proving yourself worthy to the jeweler before gaining a this subclass, they would give you a 50gp gemstone containing a 1st-level spell of your choice. ### Quests From Or About The Subclass A collection of quests related to the subclass. **Gesamtkunstwerk.** To create their magnum opus, a jeweler is looking for a specific rare gem only found within the most dangerous dungeon. Should the party complete the jeweler's request, the jeweler would create an gemstone imbued with a spell of 6th-level or higher.
