# The Demon Owl of the Spire B**ehold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.... Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another's speech.”** . ## The Spire The Ancient Spire was a magical structure of grandiose architecture and searing with the ambition of mortals and their desire to equal the Gods. The gods therefore sought the tower's destruction and they devided the tongues of mortals in order to prevent any threats to their power. The tower was destroyed and peoples of all races dispersed, never again to attempt to equal their slavemasters. A winged monstrosity has emerged to free mortals from the grips of the slavemasters they call gods, and rebuild the Spire to topple their reign over all mortals that they may live together in paradise. ## The Demon Owl The winged demon of the tower demands tribute every day in either resources or academic devotion to the art of the tongues. Meditate on a language or offer up building material and other resources to the demon. The demon takes the form of a verdant owl that seeks to terrify even the hardest of warriors and unnerve the steeliest of wills. You see it in your dreams as well as your nightmares. It is in your vision, and will only cease once you have made your daily tribute. Otherwise, its apparition consumes your senses and it will be the only thing you see or hear until tribute is paid. Pay tribute or lose his patronage. ## Expanded Spell List The Owl's vindictive power allows you to draw upon his proficiency with tongues as well as other spells that disembowel the order that the gods have put in place to keep mortals powerless.
