# Cooking
##### proficiency with cook's utensils required
Your cook's utensils includes a sharp knife, a pot, a pan and cutlery. You must have access to a heat source to cook any meal, this could be a campfire or brick oven. All meals have a gold cost, which represents basic ingredients such as salts or spices. It is assumed you automatically restock on such ingredients at the next chance automatically, so simply subtract the cost from your purse when you cook a meal.
### Full Course Meal
You can cook anything from a one-course meal to a six-course meal. However, any meal larger than a two-course requires a proper kitchen to cook in and any meal larger than a four-course requires trained kitchen staff to help you. Cooking a course meal takes the place of peforming a camp job.
| Courses | Cooking Checks | Supplies |
|:----|:-------------|:-------:|
| One-course | 1 | 10
| Two-course | 2 | 20
| Three-course | 2 (kitchen) | 30
| Four-course | 3 (kitchen) | 40 |
| Five-course | 3 (kitchen/staff) | 50 |
| Six-course | 3 (kitchen/staff) | 60 |
>While there is a basic list of courses on the next page, you may come across other unique dishes during your adventures. Whenever you try a new food dish, you may perform an Insight check to figure out how to replicate it and add it to your collection of recipes. Or you may also ask the chef if they are willing to impart some wisdom on you.

### Cooking Prep
You've decided to cook a course meal for your party. The first step is to add up the total cost of making the meal. Tastier ingredients will result in a better meal. Refer to the table below to determine the modifier for the cooking checks.
| Total Cost of All Courses | Cooking Modifier |
|:----:|:---------:|
| less than 1 sp | -20 modifier
| 1 sp or more | -15 modifier
| 1 gp or more | -10 modifier
| 2 gp or more | -5 modifier
| 5 gp or more | +5 modifer
| 10 gp or more | +10 modifier
Depending on how many courses the meal will be composed of, you will need to make one to three cooking checks. You may choose from **Dexterity**, **Wisdom** or **Charisma** checks and you may add your **proficiency bonus** to all the checks. You may not make multiple checks of the same ability for the same meal. The quality of the meal will be determined by the **lowest** cooking check.
| Cooking Check | Meal Effects |
|:----:|:---------:|
| 1 (min) to 5 | d4 morale to party / per course
| 6 to 9 | d6 morale to party / per course
| 10 to 13 | d8 morale to party / per course
| 14 to 17 | d10 morale to party / per course
| 18 to 20 (max) | d12 morale to party / per course
Rolling a natural 1 means that party members make all **Taste** checks with disadvantage. Rolling a natural 20 means that they make them with advantage.
### Secret Ingredient
Adding a secret ingredient will give the party a special **Party Food Buff**. This Food Buff will last until the next long rest (excluding the long rest on the same night of the meal). Only one Party Food Buff can be active at a time.
| Ingredient | Party Food Buff | Supplies |
|:-------:|:---------:|:------:|
| Seven-Spice Powder | Party automatically identifies a number of magic items equal to number of courses | 5 |
| Saffron Mustard | Regain extra hit dice every night equal to number of courses | 7 |
| Harissa Chili | Gain temporary hit points equal to double number of courses | 10 |
| Sumac Vinegar | Hit dice heal an extra amount equal to number of courses, per hit die | 15 |
| Shiro Dashi | All healing increases by half of number of courses, rounded down | 20 |
| Anaian Curry | Party gains extra percentage of experience where the percentage is equal to the number of courses | 25
