Arjan was raised in a traditional vedalken household that valued logic and strict adherence to social norms. As the only son, great expectations fell upon him to conform and succeed. 

But Arjan felt increasingly stifled by customs dictating every aspect of life, especially those demanding heteronormativity. He took solace in fiction, enthralled by romantic tales of lives unrestrained by duty. 

In secret, Arjan penned his own stories under the pseudonym Amarisa Wellswood - flowery romances starring defiant women finding love on their own terms. These outlets fed his longing for choice and agency.

Once of age, Arjan rejected his prescribed career studying portal magic, petitioning instead to join the Izzet League. There he befriended the unconventional Drundle, bonding over inventions and their status as outliers.

When affection bloomed into romance, Arjan supported Drundle in healing old wounds inflicted by rigid standards. He vowed to nurture their love with empathy and wisdom learned from the pages of Amarisa Wellswood's secret stories.
