### Circle of the Mandrake
From bestowing vitality to inflicting madness and even outright inviting death with but a shriek, mandrakes, also known as mandragora, are capable of all this and more, and the druids that forge their strongest connections to this unique root plant see value in these properties and seek to embody them.
These druids often reside in hidden pockets of verdure, driving unwary travellers to insanity or offering them spells of restoration and vigour, their duality a mere reflection of the mandrake itself.
{{subclassTable
| Druid Level | Features |
|:-----------:|:--------------------------------------|
| 2nd | Circle Spells, Accursed Utterance |
| 6th | Toxic Delirium |
| 10th | Root of Life and Death |
| 14th | Final Lament |
}}
#### Circle Spells
*2nd-level Circle of the Mandrake feature*
___
Your magic takes on aspects of the mandragora, medici-nal and malefic in equal measure. You learn *toll the dead*. It counts as a Druid cantrip for you, but it doesn't count against your number of Cantrips Known.
When you reach certain Druid levels, you gain access to the spells in the table below. They count as Druid spells for you, and you always have them prepared, but they don’t count against the total number of spells you prepare each day.
Additionally, when you cast *hideous laughter* using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 1st.
{{subclassTable
| Druid Level | Spells |
|:-----------:|:-----------------------------------------|
| 2nd | *hideous laughter, sleep* |
| 3rd | *blindness/deafness, lesser restoration* |
| 5th | *bestow curse, revivify* |
| 7th | *confusion, death ward* |
| 9th | *greater restoration, mass cure wounds* |
}}
#### Accursed Utterance
*2nd-level Circle of the Mandrake feature*
___
Just like your namesake, you possess the ability to strike the promise of death and madness into others with a terrifying cry.
As a bonus action, you can force a creature you can see within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Druid spell save DC. On a failure, you inflict the effects of *bane* on it until the end of your next turn and learn its current hit points.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to half your Druid level (rounded up), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
::::::
#### Toxic Delirium
*6th-level Circle of the Mandrake feature*
___
As a reaction, when a creature you can see within 30 feet of you attacks another creature, you can expend a spell slot of any level to force it to succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your Druid spell save DC or be poi-soned for 1 minute, as you suffuse it with the psychoac-tive effects of the mandragora. A creature poisoned by this effect can use its action to make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the condition ends.
If you expend a spell slot of 2nd level or higher to use this feature, it ignores immunity to the poisoned condition.
#### Root of Life and Death
*10th-level Circle of the Mandrake feature*
___
You can tap into the essence of the mandrake to em-power your magic. When you cast a Circle Spell, you can expend a Wild Shape usage to cast it without ex-pending a spell slot or material components, or cast it at any spell level accessible to you. You cannot use this feature with that spell again until you finish a long rest.
#### Final Lament
*14th-level Circle of the Mandrake feature*
___
You become capable of releasing a debilitating scream of last resort, as your namesake does under dire threat when uprooted from its resting place.
As an action, you can roll a d6 on the table below to determine the effect this feature inflicts, which occurs immediately after the roll. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
| d6 | Scream Effect |
|:---:|:----------------------------------------------------|
| 1-3 | You cast *power word pain* with a range of 30 feet. |
| 4-5 | You cast *power word stun* with a range of 30 feet. |
| 6 | You cast *power word kill* with a range of 30 feet. |
