It is advised that the DM be very poignant with the consequences of making so many deals.... tags: '' systems: - 5e renderer: V3 ``` # The Planesummoner Lost in the multitude of dimensions is the knowledge of people who contact beings from every plane of existance. The Planesummoner has the ability to summon creatures from all manner of places, but it comes at a cost. An intricate web of favours and allegiences doom the overly ambitious Planesummoner to unwinable situations. ## Class Features As a planesummoner, you gain the following class features #### Hit Points **Hit Dice:** :: 1d6 per planesummoner level **Hit Points at 1st Level:** :: 6 + your Constitution modifier **Hit Points at Higher Levels:** :: 1d6 (or 4) + your Constitution modifier per planesummoner level after 1st #### Proficiencies **Armor:** :: None **Weapons:** :: daggers, spears, quarterstaffs, light crossbows **Tools:** :: None **Saving Throws:** :: Constitution, Charisma **Skills:** :: Choose 2 from Arcana, History, Insight, Persuasion and Religion. #### Equipment You have the same starting equipment options as a sorcerer. ## Spellcasting Your agreements with beings from other planes are the source of your arcane powers. They not only allow you to summon creatures from their realms, but also teach you new spells and abilities. Your spellcasting ability is *Charisma*. You can use an arcane focus as a spellcasting focus. ## Spell Slots The Planesummoner table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells. To cast a spell you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest. Your spells derive from the sorceror spell list, in addition to spells listed below. As you level, you learn an additional sorcerer spell of your choice if the table allows. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. When you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the sorcerer spells you know and replace it with another spell from the sorcerer spell list, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots. {{classTable, frame, decoration, wide ##### The Planesummoner | Level | Proficiency | Features | Cantrips | Spells | --- Spell Slots Per Spell Level ---||||||||| | ^| Bonus ^| ^| Known ^| Known ^|1st |2nd |3rd |4th |5th |6th |7th |8th |9th | |:----:|:----------:|:----------------|:-------:|:-----:|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:|:--:| | 1st | +2 | Summon Familiar | 2 | 1 | 2 | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | | 2nd | +2 | Planar Favour I | 2 | 2 | 3 | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | | 3rd | +2 | Ritual Summoner | 3 | 3 | 4 | 2 | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | | 4th | +2 | Ability Score Improvement | 3 | 4 | 4 | 3 | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | | 5th | +3 | Planar Favour II, Planar Familiar | 3 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | — | — | — | — | — | — | | 6th | +3 | Multiplanar Awareness | 4 | 6 | 4 | 3 | 3 | — | — | — | — | — | — | | 7th | +3 | Planefused Familiar | 4 | 7 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 1 | — | — | — | — | — | | 8th | +3 | Ability Score Improvement | 4 | 8 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 2 | — | — | — | — | — | | 9th | +4 | Planar Favour III | 4 | 9 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 1 | — | — | — | — | | 10th | +4 | Broadband Connection | 5 | 10 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | — | — | — | — | | 11th | +4 | Planesblinker | 5 | 11 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | — | — | — | | 12th | +4 | Ability Score Improvement | 5 | 11 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | — | — | — | | 13th | +5 | Planar Favour IV | 5 | 12 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | — | — | | 14th | +5 | Planar Gatekeeper | 5 | 12 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | — | — | | 15th | +5 | Planar Resistances | 6 | 13 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | — | | 16th | +5 | Ability Score Improvement | 6 | 13 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | — | | 17th | +6 | Planar Favour V | 6 | 14 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | | 18th | +6 | Gaurdians of the Planes | 6 | 14 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | | 19th | +6 | Ability Score Improvement | 6 | 15 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | | 20th | +6 | Planar Favour VI, Planesiphon | 6 | 15 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | }} {{pageNumber, auto}} {{footnote THE PLANESUMMONER | FEATURES}} \page ![The Marriage of Heaven and Hell](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/The_Marriage_of_Heaven_and_Hell_-_Copy_I_object_10_detail.jpg) {position:absolute,left:80px,bottom:45px,width:660px,mix-blend-mode:multiply} {{artist,position:absolute,bottom:10px,left:130px,bottom:510px ##### The Marriage of Heaven and Hell [William Blake](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Marriage_of_Heaven_and_Hell_-_Copy_I_object_10_detail.jpg) }} ### Summon Familiar You can cast the Find Familiar spell without spell components. You can communicate telepathically with your familiar and perceive through your familiar's senses as long as you are on the same plane of existence. Additionally, while perceiving through your familiar's senses, you can also speak through your familiar in your own voice, even if your familiar is normally incapable of speech. ### Planar Favour (Type) You connect with a being from another realm. These beings can be gods, primordials, patrons, or simply beings of incredible power which can grant you access to a specific creature type to summon: aberration, beast, celestial, construct, dragon, elemental, fey, fiend, giant, humanoid, monstrosity, ooze, plant, or undead. Work with your DM to choose an appropriate being and scenario. The result of the scenario is that you must agree to a favour in return for being able to summon creatures of the type associated with that being. For example, a devil may own your soul after your death and you can summon fiends; an angel may task you to protect a specific person with your life and you can summon celestials; a primordial may task you with ruining a rival primordial's plans and you can summon elementals. \column Once the favour is agreed upon, you get access to the spell **Calling in a Favour**, which does not count towards your number of spells known. #### Calling in a Favour *2nd-level conjuration* **Casting Time:** :: 1 action (ritual) **Range:** :: 90 feet **Components:** :: V, S, M (a bit of material that represents the being's favour) **Duration:** :: Concentration, 1 hour You summon a creature from the realm of the being with whom you have a favour. You can cast this spell using a spellslot of higher spell levels. Any creature of the specified type with a CR equal half the caster's character level (rounded down) can be summoned. That creature considers you an ally upon summoning, but *does act according to it's nature and can change it's disposition towards you based on the circumstance.* If you know the name of a specific creature you have summoned before, you may attempt to summon the same creature again. Their initiative is directly after yours. ### Ritual Summoner You can cast known spells as a ritual if they have a ritual tag. In addition, any known spell which has the word "summon" in the title can also be cast as a ritual. {{pageNumber, auto}} {{footnote THE PLANESUMMONER | FEATURES}} \page ### Planar Familiar Your familiar brings with it energies from the planes from whence it came. Your familiar can appear as any creature with a CR 1 or lower. As a bonus action, you can command the familiar to take the Attack action. The familiar's weapon attacks are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming immunity and resistance to nonmagical attacks. If the familiar forces a creature to make a saving throw, it uses your spell save DC. ### Multiplanar Awareness You can concentrate on more than one spell at a time with the word "summon" in the title, including **Calling in a Favour**, up to a maximum of your half Proficiency Bonus, rounded up. When you roll a concentration check to keep a conjure or summoning spell going, you roll with advantage. ### Planefused Familiar Your familiar can fuse with a single summoned creature as a bonus action. The fusion lasts for as long as that creature in summoned. You must cast Summon \column Familiar again to regain your famliar after the fusion ends. The creature gains a visible aura of the familiar on top of it like an armour which sheds bright light for 10 feet and dim light for 10 feet after that. The fused creature gains the telepathic abilities and ability to deliver your range:touch spells of a familiar. It also gains the following: Advantage on Constitution and Charisma saving throws; advantage on Intimidation checks; +2 to AC; immunity to being flanked; melee and ranged attacks considered magical; your Charisma modifier added to any melee or ranged attack damage and the familiar's HP is added to the creature. ### Broadband Connection You can cast **Calling in a Favour** as a bonus action, and you can still cast a levelled spell with your action on the same round. ### Planesblinker You can cast Blink as a reaction immediately after taking damage. You do not need to have Blink as a known spell but you do expend a spellslot. ### Planar Gatekeeper You can cast Banishment without expending a spellslot on any creature type you have a Favour with. You can also expend a spellslot to cast the same spell as a Scroll Of Protection From *creature type* if you have a Favour with the creature type. {{pageNumber, auto}} {{footnote THE PLANESUMMONER | FEATURES}} \page ![The Great Red Dragon and the Beast from the Sea](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/Blakebeast1bg.jpg) {position:absolute,bottom:45px,width:345px,mix-blend-mode:multiply} {{artist,position:absolute,bottom:10px,left:82px,bottom:435px ##### The Great Red Dragon and the Beast from the Sea [William Blake](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Blakebeast1bg.jpg) }} ### Planar Resistances You and your familiar gain the resistances from any summoned or conjured creatures. ### Guardians of the Planes When you reach 0 HP you automatically summon a creauture type that is covered by one of your *Planar Favours* of your choice, as reaction without expending a spellslot. They appear in unoccupied spaces surrounding you. They remain guarding you until they drop to 0 HP, you regain consciousness or you die. They then return from whenst they came. **Roll a d4 to see how many you summon:** | d4 | Summons: | |:--:|:--------------| | 1 | One creature of challenge rating 2 or lower | | 2 | Two creatures of challenge rating 1 or lower | | 3 | Four creatures of challenge rating 1/2 or lower | | 4 | Eight creatures of challenge rating 1/4 or lower | The creatures take their initiative directly after you as a group. They attack anyone who tries to harm you. You choose the creature type but the DM chooses the creatures and the DM has the creatures' statistics. ### Planesiphon You gain a +1 bonus to all saving throws per summon spell active, including **Calling in a Favour**. \column ## Extended spell repitoire The following spells can added to your list of spells to choose from. A + denotes that the type of creature summoned by this spell must be covered by a *Planar Favour*.
