# Warlock Patron: Yeenoghu
You seek out destruction above all else. Maybe it is of a certain person who wronged you, the entirety of a rival kingdom, or maybe you just enjoy wreaking carnage. Whatever your goal, your commitment to the total ruination of your enemy has earned you the favor of the Lord of Savaegry, the Beast of Butchery, the Ruler of Ruin, the Prince of Gnolls, the Destroyer himself - Yeenoghu. His power turns you in a vessel of brutality. As you go forward with his blessing will you embrace his will to leave disaster in your wake, or fight to retain your higher senses and use this power only against certain foes? Either way, you both know blood will spill.

By accepting Yeenoghu as your patron, starting at 1st level your body manifests physical changes that mark you as a follower and prepare your body to become an instrument of destruction. As a bonus action you can enter a more gruesome and beastly form by adapting **Feral Features**. Examples may include include dark, mangy fur growing along your body, spikes jutting from your spine, and so on.
This feature lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked Unconscious or if your turn ends and you have not attacked a Hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then.
You can enter this form 2 times at 1st level, 3 at 3rd, 4 at 6th, 5 at 12th, and 6 at 17th.
**Feral Features**:
You are flooded with animalistic instincts. You drop all weapons or other items in your hands and crouch on all fours to move. Your movement increases by 10ft. If your AC with worn or Natural Armor is below 16, it raises to 16.
You are capable of using magic while in this form, but it is limited to melee attack spells or those on the **Yeenoghu Expanded Spell List**. Any spells you were already maintaining **Concentration** on continue.
You have disadvantage on all Charisma checks except Intimidation, for which you have advantage when in this form.
You are now capable of making a special attack called **Feral Bite** when you take the Attack action. Your bite does piercing damage equal to 1d10 + your strength modifier. You are considered proficient with this attack. Its use counts as melee weapon attacks.
If utilizing a pact weapon, it disappears when this feature is in use. However, you can choose for its damage die, abilties, or empowering invocations, such as counting as magical damage, apply to your **Feral Bite.**
### True Hunter
At 6th level, your **Feral Features** enhance; a mark that your ferocity has pleased Yeenoghu.
Your **Feral Bite** now does magical piercing damage. Additionally, you now can make two bite attacks when you take the Attack action. At 11th level, you can make three attacks. At 14th, you can make 4 attacks. These extra attacks only apply when **Feral Bite** is used.
You can replace a **Feral Bite** attack roll with an attempt to grapple.
You now have the ability to **Rampage**. When your melee attacks reduce an enemy to 0 hit points, you may make a Bonus Action to move up to half your speed and make a bite attack.
### Avatar of Malice
At 10th level, you have grown to love the look of fear in the eyes of your prey. You also refuse to give any other hunter that satisfaction, nor allow others to direct your bloodlust.
While **Feral Features** is activated, you have the ability to inspire malice in your allies. As a reaction, when your **Feral Bite** reduces an enemy to 0 hit points, you may use your reaction to put on a display using the body (or a part of their body) to stir a bloodlust in your allies. All allies within a 30ft radius of you has advantage on their next turn.
After using this ability, you cannot use it again until you take a short or long rest.
Additionally, whether or not you are utilizing **Feral Features**, you have advantage in saving throws against being **Charmed** or **Frightened**.

At 14th level, whenever you make a successful **Feral Bite** attack on a creature that bleeds, you automatically gulp down their blood to reinvigorate yourself. You now regain health equal to half the damage you dealt, rounded down.

# Pact of Hunger
Your patron has granted you a grim ability to empower yourself by feasting on your foes. As an action, you may **Consume** a portion of meat from a non-humanoid creature which you helped defeat. You may choose a single aspect of that creature to assume for 1 hour.
When you **Consume** part of a creature, the features you may choose are as follows:
A type of sense enhancement (Keen Sight, Dark Vision, Blindsense, etc.)
A +1 to your own ability score from the creature's highest ability score. Strength, Dexterity, etc. each count as a different aspect.
A damage resistance. If the creature has multiple damage resistances, you may choose only one.
You may only have a single aspect active at any given time and can not regain the same aspect until after a short or long rest. If you consume another serving of flesh, you lose the previous aspect. You may only gain an aspect from a particular creature once. A second portion of flesh from the same creature has no effect. You can, however, regain an aspect from a different specimen of the same creature (i.e., you can **Consume** a meat portion from a Giant Spider and then a different Giant Spider afterwards.)
Your patron's power helps to protect you from any damage that might have come from eating questionable morsels, such as getting sick from a zombie or the burning flesh of a fiery beast.
## Pact Invocations
### Iron Stomach
Prerequisites: Pact of Hunger.
You are immune to poison or other harmful effects from eating and drinking.
### Necrotic Bite

If you do not already have a bite attack, you gain one, with which you are considered proficient in. Your bite increases to 1d10 piercing damage. You add your charisma modifier to your bite attack as bonus necrotic damage. This nectrotic damage overrides any class or racial strength modifiers.
### Offensive Eater
Prerequisites: Pact of Hunger, 5th level.
When you **Consume** the flesh of a creature with a special ranged attack (Breath Weapon, Acid Spray , Web, etc.) you may choose to gain that special attack. Damaging attacks deal a number of d8 equal to your charisma modifier in damage. You may use the special attack a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. Once used, roll a d6. On a 6, this special attack recharges. This roll can be reattempted each turn. Any saving throws are equal to your spell save DC.

You have advantage on Wisdom (Survival and Perception) checks to track them or locate them if they are hidden. Additionally, at the start of combat when one of your enemies is your **Favored Meal** and in your line of sight, you gain a bonus to your initiative equal to your Charisma modifier.

# Notes from Creator
Hello there! Thank you for checking out my homebrew. I am reddit user **u/Black_Waltz_7.**
Firstly, I wanted to give special credit and thanks to **u/ArabellaArcana.** The idea for the Pact of Hunger was originally hers (yes I am just assuming their gender), and with her permission I tweaked it some, primarly in order to synergize well with my Warlock Patron: Yeenoghu.
Now, why bother with this? Well there is a couple of reasons.
Firstly, when I originally clicked on the link to Arabella's homebrew, Avenged Sevenfold's *Bat Country* came on in my playlist and I heard the opening line "He who makes a beast out of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man." Then I was inspired as I read her concept and thought "Man, Warlocks are always considered to be cleverly using their Patron's powers. Why not just one Patron that helps them completely lose their shit and rampage?" Granted I am still fairly new to DnD, but I always see Warlocks played as pretty calm and collected. I wanted one that was just based on sheer blood lust. Yeenoghu sprung to mind, and between official and homebrew material I find Gnolls to be very fun.
I also really just hate classes falling into any one "niche," and heellplaaxblade/pact blade still didn't quite scratch that itch for me. In my opinion, it is still very much a unison of Warlock and Patron/Pact, vs just being completely overwhelmed.aaAaqaaaa
aaq1Aa
So, with thatw3ee mind, I came up withaaa the Yeenoghu Patron and coupled it with Pact of Hunger to create an abomination that would hopefully make people *uncomfortable.* A normal person turned savage by the influence of a demonic prince who charges into battle and savagely rips and tears into his enemies.
## Desigining the Patron
I modeled the **Feral Features** usage after a Barbarian's **Rage** ability. I considered adding some damage reduction when it was active, but didn't want to step too heavily on another class' schtick. I feel also that with the use of magic it would be too overpowered. I think it is well justified in the concept that then as the character is rampaging, they're able to enlarge or hasten themselves, turn invisible, and more to instill fear into their targets.
So then the level 6 features are about improving on that concept by giving the **Rampage** feature that many gnolls have, and in general making the build a little more physically dangerous.
The 10th level ability is a bit of of a ribbon with the advantage against **Charmed** and **Frightened** but also gives a fun bit of roleplay aspect to it. The whole malice thing I borrowed from a Gnoll Dreadnaught statblock.
The 14th level ability I feel is also practical because the design of the build is to put this character on the front lines, but they're admittely a bit squishy for that. This tries to make up for it a bit.

## Designing the Pact
Again, this one is designed to synergize best with the Yeenoghu Patron, but I could definitely see it being fun with other ones. But yeah, I just wanted something that made Warlocks more of an abomination. Its all about consuming those you have defeated to gain their power.
I don't feel there is too much to dwell on in here or explain. **Necrotic Bite** is there to help in case your Warlock had to have strength as a dump stat. **Favored Meal** is fun flavor (no pun intended) derived from the Ranger's **Favored Enemy**. Instead of a straight up damage boost, I just made it that the character gets a bit blood crazed and excited, charging forward to dig into a tasty meal. **As Above** and **Down Below** I really like for flavor as well. Since it would essentially be a free casting of *Fly* or whatnot with no concentration, I feel 8th level makes sense. **Shared Meal** is a bit powerful, but you don't get a free use of the spells. I thought it was just a nice idea of, at that level, being able to Conjure a pack of Giant Hyenas to help you devour your foes and you get health from it as they give offering to their Alpha.
## Patron Synergy With Other Pacts
I'll be honest, I ended up not spending too much time here. I think the synergy with Pact of the Blade is a bit obvious. With a tomelock, RAI I feel that a primal savagery cantrip would do the Patron well, doing one major attack but giving up the extra attack feature. Pact of the chain, I think the obvious familiar choice there is a hyena. I enjoy making homebrews but my freetime is usually pretty limited. If anyone notices any major problems, please do let me know.
## Future Updates/Modifications?
As of 8/16/2020, I feel this is ready enough to share. I welcome feedback and suggestions. I'll update this section if I make any major changes.
## Like My Work?
This is only my second homebrew, but if you enjoyed it please feel free to check out my other work.
