Despite this, some sirens still take up a life of adventuring, using or eschewing their enchanting magics as they see fit. : ## Siren Features **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2. : **Creature Type.** You are both a Humanoid and a Fey. : **Size.** Sirens generally range from 4 to 6 feet tall. You are Medium. : **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. In addition, you have a swimming speed of 30 feet. : **Amphibious.** You can breathe air and water. : **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common and Aquan. : **Enchanting Nature.** You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed. : **Sirensong.** You know the *charm person* spell. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell when you cast it with this trait (choose when you select this race). Once you cast this spell, you can't cast it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast this spell using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level. : In addition, you can magically enchant your voice to enthrall the weak-minded. When you cast *charm person,* you can sing the song of your people as part of the same action, directing any creatures within 60 feet of yourself that can hear you and are charmed by you to move towards a creature you can see within 60 feet. Affected creatures spend their next turn moving towards the designated creature. : Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest. : **Subraces.** The three most common subraces of sirens are the Ocean, River, and Hot Spring subraces. These distinctions tend to be fluid, though; just as a mammal might change its coat with the changing of the seasons, a siren of one subrace may slowly turn into another with sufficient environmental exposure. While these adaptations can take months to occur, it is not unheard of for a a siren to change subraces in much shorter periods, at your DM's discretion. }} {{ ## Subraces ### Oceanic Siren Adapted to the deepest trenches, these sirens are capable of mesmerizing the unwary without a word. : As an Oceanic Siren, you gain the following features. : **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength score increases by 1. : **Bioluminescence.** As a bonus action, you can make your skin glow with patches of eerie light, shedding bright light in a 15-foot radius and dim light for an additional 15 feet. This light can be colored as you like, and you can also use it to form simple patterns on your skin. The light lasts until you dismiss it as a bonus action. : **Abyssal Adaptation.** Adapted to even the most extreme ocean depths, you have resistance to cold damage. : In addition, you can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. : **Sirenlight.** You can magically enchant your bioluminescent lights to enthrall the unwary. When you use your Sirensong, you can emit an enchanting glow instead of singing. When you use your Sirensong in this way, creatures that can see you are affected even if they cannot hear you.
{{note #### Flexible Ability Scores If your table uses the character creation guidelines found in *Tasha's Guide to Everything*, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2 and a different one by 1, instead of the ability score increases designated here.
