This alternative option irons out some of the wrinkles, while also presenting the dhampir as a traditionally-designed race option. ### Dhampir Traits ***Ability Score Increase.*** Your Charisma score increases by 1, and two other ability scores of your choice each increase by 1. ***Age.*** Dhampirs generally live 1¾ times as long as the race of their non-vampiric progenitor. ***Alignment.*** Many dhampirs end up evil, but they have no inherent inclination for any alignment. ***Size.*** Dhampirs take after the size of their non-vampiric progenitor. Your size is Medium or Small. ***Speed.*** Your base walking speed is 35 feet. You have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. ***Darkvision.*** You have darkvision out to a range of 60 feet. Within that range, you can see in dim light as if in bright light, and darkness as in dim light. You can’t see color in darkness, only shades of gray. ***Vampiric Bite***. Your fanged bite is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. You use your Strength or Dexterity modifier for the attack and damage roll. You must use the same ability score modifier for each roll. On a hit, your bite deals 1d4 + your Strength or Dexterity modifier piercing damage. When you use your bite and hit a creature that isn’t a Construct or an Undead, you can empower yourself in one of the following ways: - regain hit points equal to the damage dealt by the bite. - gain a bonus to the next ability check or attack roll you make; the bonus equals the damage dealt by the bite. - increase your speed by 10 feet, and gain advantage on Strength and Dexterity checks and saving throws for 1 minute. You can empower yourself with your bite a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all ex-pended uses when you finish a long rest. ***Vampiric Heritage.*** Your vampiric ancestry gives you resistance to necrotic damage. Additionally, you detect as an undead to features that detect creature type, such as the *detect evil and good* spell and the Divine Sense feature, although your creature type remains humanoid. ***Languages.*** You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice. \column ### Racial Feat If your DM allows the optional feats rule, the following feat, modified from *Plane Shift: Ixalan*, is available for dhampir player characters. #### Vampiric Exultation *Prerequisite: Dhampir* As an action, you can transform the lower half of your body into an inky black vapor, allowing you to float through the air. While transformed, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. You can maintain this form for up to 10 minutes. If you are aloft when this ability ends, you safely descend up to 60 feet, after which you fall. Once you use this ability, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest. {{artist,bottom:175px,right:70px ##### Bela Lugosi, Age 18 [Unknown Author, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bela_Lugosi_18.jpg) }} :::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::: {{wide
