Known simply as Valkyries, these warrior women herald the spirits of the heroic battle-dead to the afterlife. Valkyries frequently become entangled with more worldly concerns, but thankfully the gods are flexible in those matters. #### Restriction: Norsewomen Only adherents of the Æsir and Vanir of a female or femme gender identity may join the ranks of the Choosers of the Slain. The DM can waive this restriction to better suit their campaign or players. #### Tenets of the Valkyries The tenets of the Oath of the Valkyrie are relatively straightforward, primarily concerned with conduct in combat. ***Show Valor in Battle.*** Only resort to underhanded tactics in extreme circumstances; seek out honorable combat, grant your foes honorable deaths, and fear not a glorious end in battle. ***Honor the Gods.*** Show great piety to your divine superiors, and demonstrate their power and wisdom through your actions. ***Honor the Honored Dead.*** Do not desecrate corpses. If you must search and take from them, treat the remains with dignity. #### Oath Spells You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of the Valkyrie Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work. ##### Oath of the Valkyrie Spells | Paladin Level| Spells | |:------------:|:------:| | 3rd |*healing word, hunter’s mark*| | 5th |*gentle repose, invisibility*| | 9th | *fly, spirit guardians*| | 13th |*aura of life, find greater steed*| | 17th |*mass cure wounds, steel wind strike*| #### Channel Divinity At 3rd level when you swear this oath, you gain the following two Channel Divinity Options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works. ***Battle Buffer.*** As a bonus action, you present your holy symbol and grant a number of creatures up to your proficiency bonus within 15 feet of you 4d4 + your paladin level in temporary hit points for 1 minute. ***Valhalla’s Vengeance.*** As an action, you can target a number of creatures up to your proficiency bonus within 30 feet of you. Those creatures must each make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, taking 4d6 + your proficiency bonus radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. \column :::::::::::::::::: A creature that fails its saving throw also has its movement speed reduced to 0 feet until the start of your next turn and cannot be invisible for 1 minute. #### Aura of the Dísir Starting at 7th level, an aura of battle-valor projects from you in a 10-foot radius. As long as you are conscious, you and allies within the aura cannot have your movement speed reduced, can escape from a grapple without a check as a bonus action, and opportunity attacks against you and allies within your aura are made with disadvantage. Beginning at 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet. #### War Reaper Beginning at 15th level, you become tied to rove active battlefields in search of worthy warriors. You add your Charisma modifier to your Divine Smite damage. Additionally, you have experience surviving at death’s door. You gain proficiency in death saving throws. #### Chooser of the Slain At 20th level, Valhalla awaits you, and you are determined to take as many with you as you can. As an action, you can take on a fearsome form for 1 minute. While tranformed, you gain the following benefits: * The damage dice from your Divine Smite and Improved Divine Smite features become d10s. * You can concentrate on two different spells requiring concentration at the same time, provided at least one of them is among your Oath Spells. You make separate Constitution saving throws to maintain concentration on them should the need arise, and if you still are concentrating on both of them when this effect ends, you must choose which spell ends. * When targeted or affected by a feature, trait, or spell, you can choose whether your creature type is the default creature type of your race or celestial for the purposes of the effect. This effect ends early if you die.
