This mid-sized rod can transform into a dazzling variety of tools. As an action, you can transform it into any type of artisan's tool of your choice. Whatever form the tool takes, you are proficient with it.

As the user gains levels they deepen their connection with the tool, granting new abilities.

Starting at level 2, you can use an action channel your creative forces through the tool. Choose a cantrip that you don't know from any class list (A5E note: Eldritch Blast is not a cantrip). For 8 hours, you can cast that cantrip, and it counts as an artificer cantrip for you. Once you have channeled your creativity, you cannot do so again until the next dawn.

Starting at level 3, while holding this tool, you gain a bonus to spell attack rolls and saving throw DCs of your artificer spells (including spells from reconfiguring this tool) as shown on the Deepening Connection table below.

Starting at level 5, after you have used channel creativity to select a cantrip you can use an action to channel even more creativity to select one first level spell from any spell list. The spell can be cast once at any time during the 8 hours your tool is configured. As your connection to the tool deepens, the level of spells available increases.
