Monastic Tradition - Way of the Lunar Fist

Wielding the power of the moon, monks of the Lunar Fist are in a constant state of flux, albeit it a predictable one, moving back and forth between the phases of the moon. Lunar Fists are often seen as a bit cold and aloof, even by normal 'monk' standards, preferring the quiet solitude of the night over even grouped meditation. Despite having no connection to them, the Lunar Fist tradition has by virtue of cultural gossip become one in which they are associated both as allies to and weapons against lycanthropes and other shapeshifters. In truth they wield no special powers or abilities to deal with such creatures, at least not beyond the standard skills of a monastic ascetic.

Lunar Strike

From third level, once per turn when you hit with a monk weapon or an unarmed strike you deal additional radiant damage equal to your martial arts die.

Lunar Phases

Also from third level you attune your soul to the phases of the moon. When you roll Initiative, you gain the effects of a Moon Phase. If your initiative score is odd, you begin at Full Moon, and if it is even you begin at New Moon. At the start of each of your turns, you proceed to the next Lunar Phase - proceeding either up or down the list, and then back again once you reach the end.

Moon Phase Effect
Full Moon Your eyes gleam with moonlight. You gain the ability to see through Invisibility and darkness, including magical darkness, up to 60ft. You also have advantage on Perception checks.
Half Moon Your body fills with energy. Flurry of Blows, Step of the Wind, Deflect Arrows, and Patient Defence do not cost ki.
Crescent Moon Your arms are imbued with a cutting radiance. Your Deflect Arrows feature now applies to any damage, and you gain additional reactions equal to your proficiency bonus.
New Moon Your legs rush towards the new moon. When you move 10ft or more in a straight line towards a creature and hit them with a monk weapon or unarmed strike, you knock them prone or push them back 10ft (your choice).

In addition, you gain proficiency with the Nature skill.

Moonerang

From 6th level you can manifest and fling a sliver of your lunar power as a boomerang at a creature within 30ft. As an action you make a ranged spell attack roll, using your wisdom modifier for the attack and damage rolls. The moonerang deals radiant damage equal to your martial arts die. If you hit, you may make another attack roll against either the same or a different creature within range. This repeats for as many times as you do not miss, at which point Moonerang immediately ends.

Moonerang can also benefit from your Lunar Strike feature, if you've not already hit with an attack this turn.

Moonerang can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain one use on a short rest and all uses on a long rest. Once you have exhausted your uses you can expend 2 ki points to use this again.

Lunar Shield

From 11th level your Evasion feature safeguards you with the light of the moon. When you use Step of the Wind or Patient Defense, you gain Lunar Shield, which reduces the next damage you take within the next minute to 0. After Lunar Shield negates damage you also regain hit points equal to your martial arts die, and then lose Lunar Shield..

Enhanced Lunar Phases

From 17th level your Lunar Phase feature grows in strength.

Moon Phase Effect
Full Moon You gain Truesight out to 60ft. Your Moonerang's range doubles, to 60ft.
Half Moon Whenever you expend ki, roll a d4. On a 4, you regain the expended ki. You can apply Stunning Strike with Moonerang hits.
Crescent Moon You add your Martial Arts die to Deflect Arrows rolls. Your Moonerang critically strikes on attack rolls of 19 and 20, instead of just 20.
New Moon You gain the effect of the Freedom of Movement spell. As a reaction when you miss with your Moonerang you can catch it, giving you another chance to make an attack with it.

In addition, you apply your proficiency bonus twice to Nature ability checks, instead of once.

Wax and Wane

From 17th level you can change the localised time of day. By meditating for 1 minute, you can change the time of day within a 1 mile radius to any of your choice. This only affects the local lighting of the sky, and nothing else. This lasts until time would naturally progress to the chosen time, at which point it continues as normal. For instance if you changed the time of day from 10am to midnight, it would last for 14 hours, at which point the sky's time would continue as normal once more. Wax and Wane can be used at will.
