Snow Elf

Snow Elves, commonly referred to as Ice Elves, live on the northern part of the world. Snow elves are crude, unemotional, and generally unpleasant to anyone other than a snow elf. Frost elves despise the warmth of other races. Cozying up around a fire with others to tell stories sickens them. A snarl crosses their lips at the mention of such activities.

Motionless in the gail wind, winter pelts draped about them for camouflage, they wait in the frigid wastes, preying upon dire beasts and arctic horrors that lurk in the deep washes of the snow. Snow elves are around six feet tall, lean and trim, like a frozen corpse. Their skin is gaunt and pale with a tinge of blue on the tips of their extremities. Squinting in the bright sunlight of the snowy desert, their eyes are a chilly pale blue or even white. Their hair, left to flow freely in the wind, has tinges of colors like blues and purples, but is so pale, that only snow elves, with their keen sight and pickiness, ever care to make a distinction other than white.

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1.

Alignment. Rarely caring for the feeling, rights, or personal safety of others, snow elves tend to be neutral.

Elf Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the longsword, shortsword, shortbow, & longbow.

Snow Elf Resilience. A snow elf has a natural tolerance to the cold. You have resistance cold damage.

Winter Magic. You can choose between the ray of frost cantrip or the frostbite cantrip. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for it.

Half-Dwarf

Though rare, there are times that a human may breed with a dwarf. Whether out of love, or out of a crazy drunken night at a tavern, these situations lead to the outcast race known as the Half-Dwarf.

Of Two Worlds

To humans, half-dwarves look like dwarves, and to dwarves, they look like humans. The half-dwarf is a proud but confused race. They are unsure why they exist. It is a common feature of being a crossbreed race. They can share the swarves' gruff personality or have the human tendency to be of any personality. They also have a grudging understanding of half-elves who they see as prissy and spoiled. But if raised among dwarves they become much like that parent race. Because they are half dwarf and half human, they tend to be stout but have a sort of stretched out look to their limbs. They have a very Dwarven-shaped head, and the beard to boast about. They generally do not reach over 5 and a half feet tall but are stout, making them weigh about as much as a taller human. Their skin is very different from either parent race, however, their skin tends to be more of earth tones, Some can even have rust redish color to their skin.

Crafters Or Wanderers

Half-dwarves have no lands of their own, though they are welcome in human cities and somewhat more welcome in dwarven mountains. In large cities in regions where dwarves and humans interact often, half-dwarves are sometimes numerous enough to form small communities of their own. They enjoy the company of other half-races, the only people who truly understand what it is to live between two worlds.

In most parts of the world, though, half-dwarves are uncommon enough that one might live for years without meeting another. Some half-dwarves prefer to avoid company altogether, wandering the wilds and mountains as hunters, trappers, nomads, or adventurers and visiting civilization only rarely. Like dwarves, they are driven by the love of the beauty and artistry of precious metals and fine jewelry. In contrast, they become great smiths, builders, and crafters.

Half-Dwarf Names

Half-Dwarves use either human or dwarven naming conventions. As if to emphasize that they don’t really fit in to either society, half-dwarves raised among humans are often given dwarvish names, and those raised among dwarves often take human names.

Pixie

Curious as cats and shy as deer, pixies go where they please. They like to spy on other creatures and can barely contain their excitement around them. The urge to introduce themselves and strike up a friendship is almost overwhelming; only a pixie's fear of being captured or attacked stays its hand. Those who wander through a pixie's glade might never see the creatures, yet hear the occasional giggle, gasp, or sigh. Fairies array themselves like princes and princesses of the fey, wearing flowing gowns and doublets of silk that sparkle like moonlight on a pond. Some dress in acorns, leaves, bark, and the pelts of tiny woodland beasts. They take great pride in their regalia and beam with joy when they are complimented on their ensembles.

--Rivergleam, Pixie Fashionista--

Magical Faerie Folk

With their innate power of invisibility, pixies rarely appear unless they wish to be seen. In the Feywild and on the Material Plane, pixies etch patterns of frost on winter ponds and rouse the buds in springtime. They cause flowers to sparkle with summer dew, and color the leaves with the blazing hues of autumn.

Tiny Tricksters

While the arrival of visitors piques their curiosity, pixies are too shy to reveal themselves at first. They study the visitors from afar to gauge their temperament or play harmless tricks on them to measure their reactions. For example, pixies might tie a dwarf's boot together, create illusions of strange creatures or treasures, or use dancing lights to lead interlopers astray. If the visitors respond with hostility, the pixies give them a wide berth. If the visitors are good natured, the pixies are likely to be emboldened and more friendly. The fey might even emerge and offer to guide their "guests" along a safe route or invite them to a tiny yet satisfying feast prepared in their honor. The same is true for an adventuring Pixie though they might be more bold than one who has not chosen that path.

Physical Description

Standing barely more than a foot tall, pixies resemble diminutive elves with gossamer wings like those of dragonflies or butterflies, bright as the clear dawn and as luminous as the full moonrise. Their skin, hair, and eyes come in shades of natural colors including the greens of the leaves and grass or the browns and bronzes of the dirt and trees and even spans into the reds and yellows of the autumn.

Pixie Names

Pixie names are usually light-hearted, often based on nature or on magical themes, similar to many fey-folk including faries. Pixies generally only have the one name; family names are not common.

  • Male Celestial Names. Alvin, Avery, Brokk, Oberon, Oren, Warren, Puck, Basil, Cleon, Jack, Robin
  • Female Celestial Names. Daffodil, Dalila, Dewdrop, Echo, Acorn, Ginger, Aria, Buttercup, Cricket, Tinkerbell, Ariel

Pixie Traits

Pixies share certain racial traits as a result of their fey heritage.

Age. Pixies do not age as normal races do, and after reaching maturity do not die except from wound or disease. They reach adulthood at age 16.

Alignment. Almost all pixies are good with the chaotic ideals of freedom in simply having fun and enjoying life being at the forefront of their desires.

Size. Pixies are like tiny elves standing barely a foot tall. Your size is Tiny.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 15 feet. Your fly speed is 35 feet and you can hover though you still fall if knocked prone or are deprived of the ability to move.

Darkvision. Living mostly outdoors outside of traditional lighting, you have superior vision in dark or dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if you were in bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Pixie Magic. You can shrink objects sized for a medium or small creature to suit your size while it is carried by you. While shrunk, a weapon can be used normally. You can also cast the invisibility spell with yourself as the target. After you use invisibility it cannot be used again until you complete a short or long rest. Your magic also regrows your wings if they are ever cut off (or removed in some fashion) over a long nights rest.

Saiyan

Stories from distant lands tell of the rare tribe of saiyan people. Once thought lost to the hands of a powerful sorcerer, mountain clans of this proud warrior race have begun to spring up around the Borderlands. Legends speak of their unparalleled skills in combat, their unquenchable pride, and their ferocious appetite. They are fighters at heart, absolutely vicious in battle, and are quick to anger. They do not go into the world looking to conquer, but if you should make one cross, be prepared to fight for your honor, and your life.

Saiyans, while not too drastically different from most races, have their own traits. They are naturally muscle-bound and stocky, with few being overweight or skinny. But even the most unassuming of saiyans pack a wallop. Saiyans stand from 5 feet tall to 7 feet, and universally possess dark colored hair, that usually sticks into one style their entire lives. They can range from 140 pounds to 300, depending on their bulk. Saiyans usually possess pale skin, although some are shades darker. Females are not especially voluptuous, but are usually shorter than their male counterparts. They all possess tails, which are present since birth, and are uniquely prehensile. They reach puberty around 13 years of age, and begin to grow rapidly. They commonly live to 80 years, and stay in their peak physical form for a long time before rapidly ageing to death.

Fierce and Proud

When a saiyan puts their mind to something, they accomplish it. While this usually means fighting, mages and alchemists dedicate their lives to their craft, and while they may not aspire to become famous across the land, there is something valuable to be learned in each saiyan's experience in life. And don't you dare tell them otherwise, because every one of them is proud to the core, for they do what they do because they feel it is worth their heart and soul. They are a tough people, living in rudimentary huts, gathering food and hunting in the surrounding areas, indeed, they live tough lives, but all saiyans have the innate desire for battle and accomplishment, making them excellent adventurers.

Masters of Their Own Domain

Saiyans have their own hierarchy, which is a monarchy ruled by a king. Beyond that however, they tend to stick to their families, in which they hunt, eat, and train with each other. When a Saiyan leaves home, there is no long ceremony with weeping, as parents recognize one's need to grow in life, and they don't want to impede. While some races might think of Saiyans as cold to one another, they do not bear dislike towards one another, but rather respect each other's space and place in life.

Adventuring saiyans tend to pair with those who seem strong or reliable. When they adventure, they do not look for riches, unless those riches go to another weapon, or for them to repair their armor. They seldom spend money on food, preferring to hunt local wildlife, or eat just about anything they've killed. Unlike some races, saiyans almost never group up based on lust. Love is second to them, and one would never give special treatment to the other gender.

Sometimes Feared, Always Respected

Not all races react to saiyans equally, but they all respect their tenacity and drive in their lives. Some view them as battle-lusted apes, wishing them to go back to civilization and leave them alone.

Humans. “I usually don't see them in my travels, but saiyans are tough as nails. Difficult to get along with usually, but once you get them to crack a smile, they'll open right up to you. Great adventurers too, I'm always happy to have a saiyan have my back, and I'm glad I'm not fighting one.”

Dwarves. “Not a very advanced people. They don't even care about money unless they have to visit other towns. They're polite enough, I guess. Kinda quiet though. I suppose with their scowls, they're angry 'bout something.”

Elves. “Much like humans, saiyans are usually single-minded in what they do. Their craftsmanship is almost non-existent, which is a shame, because if they actually cared about anything other than hitting each other, they might actually accomplish something. But yet they stay in the mountains, dining on barely-cooked beasts.”

Saiyan Names

Saiyans have a long tradition of naming their young based off of plants, fruits or vegetables. While these corruptions can be hard to spot, any true saiyan will have a name like this. Saiyan tribes tend not to be too different across the land, although each develop quirks based off of their ancestor's deeds, if it is worthy enough of legend.
