A Warring Factions roleplay

Let's get started

First of all, what is a Warring Factions roleplay? A Warring Factions roleplay is any roleplay where a character must be part of one or more factions. Their actions are meaningful, and they will, inevitably and frequently, come into contact with members of their opposing faction.

  • Character actions WILL have consequences.
  • Characters WILL be injured, or even killed

But don't be discouraged, for you will be prepared for conflict long before events occur, or be accompanied by player characters that can keep you 'safe' until such a time.

Choosing a faction

There are three major powers that are at war with each other in The City, each with their own personal goals and culture. Two of them, Harmony and The Dominion, are constantly at odds with one another. The third, Destriers, are outcasts and enemies of the former two.

Below, we will review the mottos of all three to gain a better understanding of who they are:

  • The Dominion

Order must be brought to The City at any cost

  • Harmony

We will bring peace and harmony to The City

  • Destriers

Society has fallen, but we can rebuild. Together we stand, divided we fall.

Choosing your race

Before The Ascension, a menagerie of different species mixed and mingled in The City. Griffons, hippogriffs, even a few dragons and diamond dogs. All of these species are represented in one way or another, however not all species are entirely welcome amongst the present factions.

  • Player character races include:

Ponies (Earth, Pegasus, Unicorn), Kirins, Griffons, Diamond Dogs.

  • Special races include:

Dragons, changelings, hippogriffs, zebras.

Where you began

The City is roughly 33miles in diameter, and is evenly split between all three factions. Harmony and The Dominion control the central territory, while Destrier controls a fair portion of The Outer Ring. Where you began your journey says a lot about your background and upbringing.

Below are listed the three main territories a character may belong to.

Draconis

Home of the kirins. This is where The Dominion is based, and the area they primarily operate in. It is a repurposed military installation, surrounded by mostly barren land and debris.

The Dome

The Dome is an old expoiremental biodome, now doubling as a home for the creatures of Harmony. It is host to a variety of vibrant flora, colorful fauna, and is the only source of clean water in The City. In many ways, it is a utopia, and in many ways it is not.

The Outer Ring

The Outer Ring is a ring of debris and derilect buildings that draw the borders of The City. Everything beyond this point is ash and dust as far as the eye can see. This is where the outcasts of society preside.

Faith

Every creature beleives in one thing or another, even in nothing itself! While your character can be agnostic or atheist, it's usually a good idea to align with one faith or the other.

Below are the two predominant faiths in The City, and what they represent.

The alicorn

You beleive in the alicorn not just as the leader of Harmony, but as a deity unto herself. She is the answer to your questions, and the solution to what ails The City so.

The dragon

The founder of The Dominion was no mere beast, but a powerful being that lives on within all who carry a fire within them. He is the breath of life, and the roaring fire that will consume your foes.
