Druidic Circle - Circle of the Scale

Dragons are some of the oldest creatures on the planet, with a primordial connection to both the land and the gods. Ageless beyond most mortals comprehension, a dragon is the purest expression of nature's strength - power, wit, guile, intelligence. It is no surprise, therefore, that some druids turn to dragonkind as their objects of dedication and worship of nature. These are the druids of the scale, and through their dedication they are blessed with the ability to become dragons themselves.

Circle Spells

When you join this circle at 2nd level, you gain additional spells from your connection to dragonkind. Your link with them grants you access to some spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the table below.

Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn't appear on the Druid Spell List, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.

Druid Level Spells
2nd Absorb Elements, Command
3rd Alter Self, Dragon's Breath
5th Elemental Weapon, Fly
7th Freedom of Movement, Private Sanctum

Draconic Wild Shape

By devoting yourself to the Circle of the Scale at 2nd level, your Wild Shape ability is enhanced, allowing you to also transform into a special dragon creature as a bonus action. This dragonform gains additional abilities as you gain levels in this class, as detailed below. Your draconic wild shape can speak any languages you know, however it cannot cast spells. The Beast Spells and Archdruid class features apply to your draconic wilde shape, in addition to beast forms.

In addition, you learn the Draconic language, if you did not already have it.

Primal Resistances

Your connection to dragonkind offers you a degree of protection against their breaths. From 6th level at the end of a long rest you choose one of the following damage types: fire, acid, cold, lightning, poison. You gain resistance to this damage type until the end of your next long rest. Your skin also becomes mottled with patches of scales that seem to shift colour and hue, depending on which damage type you have chosen to resist.

Heart of the Dragon

Once you reach 10th level you're able to project the presence of the dragons. When you use a dragon wild shape, each creature of your choice that is within 60 feet of you and can see you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw equal to your spell save DC or become Frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to being frightened by you for the next 24 hours.

In addition, dragons recognise you as their kin. You have advantage on any persuasion, deception and intimidation checks with dragon type creatures.

Draconic Aura

At 14th level you give off an aura of power whenever you are in a dragon wild shape. This aura affects yourself and any friendly creatures within 10' of you. You choose this aura when you take the dragon shape, and can change it by using a bonus action. The auras you can choose from are included in the table below.
