Bard College - College of Troubadours and Trobairitz

The travelling bard is a common enough story, and those who follow the path of the troubadour and the trobairitz are no exception. While many bards let their feet do the walking, bards of this college are most often seen on steeds - imposing coursers and stalwart riding dogs. In battle, these bards serve as an inspiring presence, often near the frontlines supporting their allies with spell and song, though rarely do they enter the fray themselves.

Home on the Saddle

When you take this archetype at 3rd level you gain proficiency in the Animal Handling skill. If you already have proficiency in this skill, you gain another skill or language proficiency of your choice. You apply your Charisma modifier to animal handling checks in addition to your wisdom modifier.

Inspiring Presence

At 3rd level you are able to grant yourself Bardic Inspiration. When you do so, you also grant inspiration to a friendly character who can hear you within 30'. If you do so while mounted, your mount also gets a bardic inspiration die, at no additional cost. In addition to its normal uses, your mount can expend the die as a Reaction when targeted by an attack roll to increase their AC by that amount until the start of your next turn.

Mounted Support

At 6th level you add the spell Find Steed to your spells known. In addition, whenever you cast a spell that restores hit points, you can choose for you or your mount to gain the same amount of hit points restored as either hit points or temporary hit points. Any creatures you mount have immunity to the Frightened and Charmed conditions while you remain atop them. At 15th level, you add the spell Find Greater Steed to your list of spells known.

Song of Battle

At 14th level you learn a song of battle, one whose melodies drive your allies to fight on and your enemies to fall back. When you start this song as an action, friendly creatures who can hear you subtract your charisma modifier from their damage taken, and deal additional radiant damage equal to your charisma modifier on weapon attacks. Hostile creatures who can hear your song have disadvantage on saving throws against the frightened condition, and are more likely to lose morale and break rank.

You can continue the song for one minute, and are able to cast spells during this time as normal - mixing their components into your melodies. The song of battle requires Concentration, as if it were a spell, and can be used once before requiring a long rest to be usable again. At 18th level, you need can complete either a short or a long rest before being able to use the song of battle once more.
