Primal Path - Path of the Trueblade

Those who dedicate themselves to the Path of the Trueblade seek mastery of weapons as an outlet for their rage powers. They become one with the weapons, and use their supernatural strength to wield weapons beyond mortal limits. The imposing form that they cut on the battlefield wielding twin weapons singlehandedly that most would struggle to lift even with two hands strikes fear and awe into those who would watch them.

The reasons one might follow the path of the Trueblade are myriad, but the central focus is believing that by mastering weapons, they can master themselves and become more than they once were. Despite the name Trueblades do not only focus on bladed weapons, with some favouring massive hammers or lances to smash and pierce their way through opponents. Still, whether due to number or aesthetic, the concept of the Trueblade is inexorably linked to that of swords, and they are the most commonly seen expressions of the Path.

Twin Blades

Being satisfied with wielding a single weapon is not the way of the Trueblade, who seeks mastery of both arms. When you first take up this path you gain the ability to use two handed melee weapons with one hand. In addition, while raging, you can effectively dual wield two handed melee weapons, even those that lack the Light attribute.

Legacy of the Trueblades

Those who dedicate themselves to the path of the Trueblade inevitably focus on those who came before them - their lives, their skills, their deaths. From third level you gain proficiency in the History skill and have advantage on any checks relating to martial combat and famous warriors of legend.

Vantage

Your mastery of heavy weapons improves at 6th level. As a reaction when a melee attack is made against you, you can make a melee attack against your attacker, before their attack resolves. If you are currently raging and wielding two two-handed weapons, you can attack with both weapons. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier, refreshing on a long rest.

From 12th level, your uses of this feature refresh on both a short rest and long rest.

Relentless

You cut a path through any who would stand in your way. From 10th level you deal an extra +1 damage on your next attack, and take -1 damage on your next incoming source of damage, for each 10' you move. This effect ends at the start of your next turn.

At 18th level this bonus improves, requiring only 5' of movement for each +1/-1, instead of 10'.

Etheric Blade

From 14th level your mastery of your weapons increases yet further, allowing you to channel all of your skill into two powerful strikes. As a bonus action you imbue each weapon you are wielding with a portion of your power, which lasts for 1 minute or until they successfully hit. One weapon gains potent restorative properties, healing you for the damage it deals on its next attack. The other one cuts through the enemy's very essence, dealing critical damage and reducing their AC to 10 (if it is not already lower) until the end of your next turn.

If you are only wielding one weapon, you choose with Etheric Blade imbue you wish to use. You can use Etheric Blade once per long rest, increasing to once per short rest from 19th level.
