Otherworldly Patron - Superb Song

Melodies run through all cultures and species. The wind itself sings as it rustles the trees and blows through the mountains. Music itself, therefore, is a building block of reality, one aspect of which all life is formed. It is this philosophical primacy that most warlocks of the Superb Song learns to bond themselves to - the very concept of music connecting people, supporting them, and granting them inner strength through the hardest times. Some warlocks may join with the elemental sound via by taking a particularly musical patron as their pactmaker - song dragons, sirens, or a trumpet archon, but the majority do so merely by bonding themselves to the elemental force, allowing them a deeper connection. Music, after all, is a deeply personal affair, and to some a personified patron diminishes that.

Warlocks of the Superb Song are often found on the frontlines, using their song's power to enhance their body and their strikes to deliver devastating blows, all while supporting their allies in a harmonious melody.

Expanded Spell List

Your patron lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Expanded Spell List
Spell Level Spells
1st Guiding Bolt, Healing Word
2nd Enhance Ability, Prayer of Healing
3rd Ashardalon's Stride, Mass Healing Word
4th Freedom of Movement, Storm Sphere
5th Destructive Wave, Steel Wind Strike

Superb Song

Forming this pact at 1st level grants you knowledge of a specific song, unique to you alone, with its tones and melodies attuned to your soul in such a way that none others can sing it, even those of the same pact. You may begin singing this song as a bonus action on your turn. This song cannot be sung in areas of silence, and you cannot speak while singing. All your warlock spells, even those that do not normally have them, have Verbal components, and these spells can still be cast while singing. Features or abilities that remove verbal components (such as the Subtle Spell metamagic) do not work with your warlock spells.

While singing, you gain the following benefits:

  • You add your charisma modifier to your armour class while you are in light or no armour. You can wear a shield and still gain this benefit.
  • You are unaffected by difficult terrain and opportunity attacks against you have disadvantage.
  • You have advantage on strength ability checks and saving throws.
  • Your movement speeds are increased by 10ft.

You can maintain a song for ten minutes, and Superb Song can be sung a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, refreshing on a long rest. At 7th level the song's uses refresh on a short rest in addition to a long rest.

Internal Melody

When you form this pact you gain proficiency in the Performance skill and gain Thaumaturgy as an additional cantrip known. In addition, the song that reverberates in your heart allows you to channel magic through your body. Whenever you cast a warlock spell that has a ranged attack roll, you can instead change it to a melee attack roll with a range of 5ft. If you do so, increase the damage die of the spell by 1 level (eg. 1d10 becomes 1d12, 1d12 becomes 2d6).

Singer's Constitution

Experience with your song has given made your body more sturdy. From 6th level you gain proficiency in your choice of either the Acrobatics or Athletics skills. Your hit point maximum increases by an amount equal to your warlock level. Whenever you gain a warlock level thereafter, your hit point maximum increases by an additional 1 hit point.

Finally, when you are singing your Superb Song you can add your Charisma modifier to any Constitution saving throws.

Harmonise

At 10th level you are able to share a portion of your Song's power with your allies. When you start singing it, your allies within 30ft who can hear you can use their reaction to start singing with you. This gives them (but not you) the following benefits:

  • Spellcasters gain access to your Spells Known, but must still expend the appropriate level of spell slot to cast the spells. If they cast a spell that has a verbal component, the attack roll and DC are increased by +1.
  • They add your Charisma modifier to weapon damage rolls.

This lasts so long as they maintain singing. Just as with you, they cannot speak while singing, but they can weave verbal spell components into the song. In addition, you gain a bonus to all saving throws equal to the number of creatures singing to a maximum of +3 from 3 creatures, including yourself.

Supreme Song

By reaching 14th level in this class you body becomes more closely attuned with the music within. As an action, instead of a bonus action, you can activate your Superb Song. By doing so, in addition to your normal Superb Song benefits, you unleash a blast of power, dealing 8d10 thunder damage to all creatures within a 30ft radius of yourself, or half as much on a successful constitution saving throw. Creatures who fail their saving throw are stunned until the end of their next turn. Supreme Song dispels any areas of Silence within the 30ft radius, allowing you to sing unhindered.

In addition, your Superb Song gains an additional benefit of your choice from the following list when activated via Supreme Song:

  • You gain a flying speed of 60ft.
  • You gain temporary hit points equal to 3 times your warlock level.
  • You gain blindsight out to 60ft.

Supreme Song can be activated once, refreshing on a long rest.

At 20th level, Supreme Song refreshes on a short and long rest.

Pact of the Chorus

Your patron's boon is not one of solely personal power, but instead the resonance that comes with joining your power together with others. As a reaction when one ally within 30ft makes an attack roll or ability check you can give them advantage on the roll. You can do so after seeing the initial roll. When you do so, you also gain a charge of energy in return as they synchronise their action with your own. You may expend charges as a bonus action as folows:-

  • 2 Charges: Touch a creature. They gain hit points equal to 2d8 + your charisma modifier.
  • 4 Charges: You regain a warlock spell slot.
  • 7 Charges: You regain a mystic arcanum of up to 8th level.

Pact of the Chorus can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, refreshing on a short or long rest. Accrued charges are lost on completion of a long rest.
