Pixie

Curious as cats and shy as deer, pixies go where they please. They like to spy on other creatures and are always excited to make new friends; only a pixie's fear of being captured or attacked can contain its innate curiosity. In truth those who wander through a pixie's glade might never see the creatures, perhaps hearing the occasional giggle, gasp, or sigh. When seen Pixies generally wear doublets or flowing gowns made of silk that sparkle in moonlight. Some dress in acorns, leaves, bark, and the pelts of tiny woodland beasts. They take great pride in their regalia and beam with joy when they are complimented on their ensembles.

Tiny and Exotic

Pixies are supernaturally small and rarely get over one feet tall in adulthood. Their faces have elf-like features which bely their fey heritage.

Most striking are the gossamer thin, insect like wings that sprout from their backs. These rainbow-sheened wings hardly seem strong enough to carry even the slight frames of the pixies.

Pixie coloration tends toward the lighter complexions of human skin tones, with some pixies having more exotic color tints to their skin, like pinks, blues and greens,

Pixie hair color varies wildly depending on where the pixie was born - ranging in color from natural browns and blonds to very exotic colors like lime green, orange and shocking blues.

Tricksters at Heart

Being essentially ageless, Pixie's crave diversions. Becouse of this they love nothing more than to play tricks and pull pranks on each other, and on those that pass through their realms.

Usual pranks can range from pulling chairs out from under someone, to purposefully leading people into potentially dangerous situations. Pixies often don't consider this to be spiteful, instead they see it as playfully adding excitement to the lives of those around them, who otherwise would lead boring, monotonous lives.

In pixie culture, an elaborate prank is considered a compliment, and it is considered bad form to become angered at such displays. However, this playfulness rarely translates well to the other races, which can cause others to see Pixies as mean spirited and nasty little tricksters.

Pixie Dust

When visible, a shower of sparkling dust follows in their wake like the glittering tail of a shooting star. A mere sprinkle of pixie dust is said to be able to grant the power of flight, confuse a creature hopelessly, or send foes into a magical slumber. Only pixies can use their dust to its full potential, but these fey are constantly sought out by mages and monsters seeking to study or master their power.

Bound in Friendship

Pixie magic is based on light hearted pranks and laugter. This mahic is part of the very being of the Pixie, and as such it affect their relationships in profound ways. A friendship for a Pixie is often a magical connection. Between two Pixies, this is a mutual mingling of their innate magics, and it forms bonds that last for centuries.

Sometimes a Pixie will bind with a mortal. In this case a friendship is formed that goes beyond merely a mutual understanding or shared interests. Such a bound Pixie will often stick by that person's side until they pass of old age, and if the bond is strong enough, such a passing can cause a pixie to pass shortly after - the magic of their life cut short in losing such a potent friendship forever.

Opposed to Violence

Unlike their fey cousins, the sprites, most pixies abhor weapons and would sooner flee than get into il physical altercation with any enemy. As an adventurer, you are expected to confront enemies and fight foes. This makes an adventuring Pixies an extremely rare occurrence, and can make pixies mistrust or even avoid adventurers.
