Bard College - College of Carousing

A colleage in name only, bards who 'study' at the college of carousing are frequently found in ports or aboard ships, slinging rum and ale while eagerly encouraging their allies into rounds of songs. The mark of a good Carouser is one who keeps their songs going on and on and on, because that means their fellow singers are drunk and happy.

Carousers are no strangers to brawls either, as frequently happens when alcohol flows like a river, and are often in the thick of things, swinging their half-empty mug here and there with reckless, joyful abandon.

Carouser's Proficiencies

Carousers are experts in keeping their brethren happy and drunk. At 3rd level you gain proficiency with brewer's Supplies, advantage on saves vs. poisoned and intoxication, and you can use mugs or other drinking supplies as spell focuses.

Raucous Chorus

Also from third level when a creature expends your bardic inspiration dice, a friendly creature can use their reaction to gain bardic inspiration in turn as they join your shanty song. The chorus can be continued a number of times equal to half your proficiency bonus, so at 3rd level it can 'chain' only once, but once you are 9th level it can chain twice.

When you reach 20th level in this class, there is no limit to how many times the Chorus can chain.

Good Ol' Brawl

When you reach 6th level once per turn when you take the Attack action, you may choose to either

  • Cast the Vicious Mockery cantrip on the target of your attack.
  • Use the Help action on an ally either within 10ft or that has your Bardic Inspiration available. At 20th level, the range on this increases to 30ft.

In addition, you may now make attacks with your mug, which uses Mace statistics. You may use charisma in place of strength for attack and damage rolls with your mug.

Drown 'em out lads!

From 14th level as a reaction when a creature casts a spell with a Verbal component, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to cast Counterspell without expending a spell slot. You make the ability check as normal, but for each friendly creature within a 10ft radius or that has your Bardic Inspiration available, you add +1 to the ability check.

If the spell in question is a Power Word spell, you have advantage on the Counterspell ability check.

At 20th level, the radius for friendly creatures increases to 30ft.

Iron Stomach

Also from 14th level, you become immune to poison damage and the Poisoned condition, and to any negative effects of alcohol - all buzz, no hangover!
