Otherworldly Patron - Quori

While many kalashtar embody the path of a monk in order to find inner peace with their quori spirit, some instead try to reach a greater understanding and melding with the creature bound to their bloodline. This focus manifests itself as a pact between the two, granting fantastical, if occasionally haphazard, powers.

This subclass is intended solely for Kalashtar, though with DM permission it could be extended to other races also.

Expanded Spell List

The Quori lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Expanded Spell List
Spell Level Spells
1st Dissonant Whispers, Sanctuary
2nd Calm Emotions, Phantasmal Force
3rd Clairvoyance, Sending
4th Arcane Eye, Phantasmal Killer
5th Commune, Dominate Person

Quori Potential

At 1st level your bond begins to manifest itself. You gain a Quori Potential die, the starting size of which is a d6. You can use this in the following ways:

Boosted Ability. When you make a charisma ability check you can roll your Quori Potential die and add the number rolled to the check. You can choose to do so before or after rolling the d20, but before you know whether the check succeeded or failed.

Guided Strike. Once on each of your turns when you hit with an attack roll with either your spell or your pact weapon you can roll your Quori Potential die after you make the damage roll and then replace one of the damage dice with the number rolled on the Quori Potential die.

Changing the Die’s Size. If you roll the highest number on your Quori Potential die, it decreases by one die size after the roll. This represents you burning through your psionic energy. For example, if the die is a d6 and you roll a 6, it becomes a d4. If it’s a d4 and you roll a 4, it becomes unusable until you finish a short or long rest.

Conversely, if you roll a 1 on your Quori Potential die, it increases by one die size after the roll, up to its starting size. This represents you conserving psionic energy for later use. For example, if you roll a 1 on a d4, the die then becomes a d6.

Whenever you finish a short or long rest, your Quori Potential die resets to its starting size. When you reach certain levels, the starting size of your Psionic Talent die increases: at 5th level (d8), 11th level (d10), 17th level (d12), and 20th level (d20).

Replenishment. As a bonus action, you can calm your mind for a moment and restore your Quori Potential die to its starting size. You then can’t use Replenishment again until you finish a long rest. From 11th level, this also refreshes on a short rest.

Quori Magic

From 1st level whenever you deal damage with a warlock spell or your pact weapon you can choose to change the damage type to Psychic.

Seed of Control

At 6th level when a creature damages you, you can use your reaction to seed a portion of your quori into their spirit. Whenever the creature takes an action, it must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell DC. On a success, the fragment of your quori spirit is expelled and returns to you. On a fail, you choose the action it takes that turn and its targets (if any), though you do not gain control over any of its other actions. You have no special knowledge of the creature's abilities or spells, save that which you have learned. If you attempt to force the creature to take an impossible action (such as casting a spell it does not know) the action fails and the creature does nothing.

You may use your reaction to subtract your Quori Potential die from their saving throw against Seed of Control.

This lasts for 1 minute or until your spirit is expelled. Once the effect ends, you regain 1d8 hit points for each action you successfully controlled. Seed of Control can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, refreshing on a long rest.

Psionic Sustenance

From 6th level your quori spirit's energy sustains you. You no longer need to eat or drink. You also only require 4 hours of sleep in order to complete a long rest.

Quori Concentration

From 10th level you use your mindbond powers in order to take control of enemy magic. When you break another creature's concentration on a spell, either with damage or conditions, you can use your bonus action to take control of their spell. If the spell summoned creatures, they now follow your commands instead but you cannot retarget a spell's enchantments - for instance if you took control of Bless, you could not change who it originally targeted. Instead of you concentrating on this stolen spell, your Quori does so for you, allowing you to concentrate on your own spells but it can of course only concentrate on one spell at a time. The spell retains its original duration but you use your spellcasting DC/spell attack modifier for any future rolls.

Your quori's concentration is broken in the same way yours is due to its bond with you. If you are subject to a condition which breaks concentration, the quori's is broken immediately, and if you take damage, the quori rolls to maintain concentration (using your save modifier).

In addition, you may now use your Quori Potential die whenever you make a Concentration saving throw.

Quori Reformation

A quori spirit's knowledge extend far beyond the physical realm, and by combining your magical talents with their immense knowledge you can help to exchange a creature's experiences with anothers.

From 10th level you may conduct a 24 hour ritual with a willing subject other than yourself. Upon completion you can remove all their existing class features and levels and instead replace them with class features and levels up to their current character level, allowing them to rebuild their character anew. They do not gain any new equipment for being reformed in this way, and those who choose to be wizards must provide the spellbook (though not the ink) with which to scribe spells they gain from their levels, though your reformation ability allows you to bypass the time normally required to do so. Removing a character's wizards level purges their spellbook of existing spells as part of the reformation.

Bonded Spellcasting

At 14th level your quori can use its link with you to assist your spellcasting. You can remove one component from any spell you cast. At 17th level, you can remove up to two components, and at 20th level you can remove up to three components. Expensive material components with a defined gold cost cannot be removed.
