Druidic Circle - Circle of Rainbows

Perhaps one of the most universally beautiful features of nature, the rainbow holds within it an expression of the powerful magic of colours, and druids who adhere to this Circle learn how to tap into it, allowing their colours to manifest as magic.

Druids of the Rainbow are seekers of beauty, who rarely stay in one place for too long, and instead stay on the move, ever seeking more of nature's wonders. More than many, druids of the rainbow are multifaceted with their approach to civilisation - finding beauty in the works that it can accomplish, but equally they are some of its most staunch opponents, both when they destroy natural beauty and when they allow squallor to run rampant.

Magic of the Rainbow

At 2nd level you are able to embrace the rainbow by using a Wild Shape usage as a bonus action. Instead of becoming an animal you take on a multicoloured form. Though your appearance is prismatic, one colour stands out beyond the others. Roll a d8 on the below table. As part of the bonus action to activate this form, and on subsequent turns with your bonus action, you can cast a cantrip to the corresponding colour.

d8 Colour Cantrip
1 Red Firebolt
2 Orange Acid Splash
3 Yellow Lightning Lure
4 Green Poison Spray
5 Blue Ray of Frost
6 Indigo Mind Sliver
7 Violet Eldritch Blast
8 Prismatic Roll twice more, gaining each colour rolled. Prismatic rerolls can stack, but duplicate types are rerolled until all colours are active.

Multiple colours allow you to cast multiple cantrips with the same bonus action, and they do not have to target the same creature, but they always cast in colour order - from Red, to Orange, and so on. The cantrip you cast with Magic of the Rainbow does not scale as you gain additional levels like normal cantrips. Casting a cantrip with Magic of the Rainbow does not limit you from casting levelled spells with your action.

Magic of the Rainbow lasts for 1 minute. You can use your bonus action on your turn to reroll on the table, but if you do so you cannot cast a cantrip with it that turn.

Circle Spells

When you join this circle at 2nd level, you gain additional spells from your connection to the natural world around and above you. Your link with rainbow grants you access to some spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the table below.

Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn't appear on the Druid Spell List, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.

Druid Level Spells
2nd Colour Spray, Faerie Fire
3rd Blindness/Deafness, Blur
5th Hypnotic Pattern, Protection from Energy
7th Elemental Bane, Hallucinatory Terrain
9th Dawn, Wall of Light
13th Prismatic Spray
17th Prismatic Wall

Rainbow Reflection

At 6th level your colours leap out whenever you're attacked. When you take damage from a weapon attack, the attacker takes 1d6 damage of each of your active colours (Fire for Red, Acid for Orange, etc.) from Magic of the Rainbow.

Sight of the Rainbow

From 6th level, when you activate Magic of the Rainbow you gain darkvision with a 60ft range, or increase its existing range by 30ft if you already had it. You also see in full colour with this darkvision.

Furthermore, if you have no Wild Shape uses available you can expend a spell slot of 2nd level or higher to activate Magic of the Rainbow.

Strength of the Rainbow

From 10th level your Magic of the Rainbow cantrips deal two dice of damage instead of one. In addition, if you cast a spell that deals damage of a type that is not an active colour, you gain that colour until you reroll or Magic of the Rainbow ends.

Shield of the Rainbow

From 14th level you gain Resistance to the damage types of your currently active colours. In addition, if a creature moves within 15ft of you, you can use your reaction to cast Colour Spray, targeted on the creature. You may optionally expend a spell slot of 2nd level or higher when you do so to cast the spell at a higher level. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain one use on a short rest, and all uses on a long rest.
