Yara-ma-yha-who

The Yara-ma-yha-who are frog or toad-like vampiric humanoids with bright red skin, who, rather than by means of fangs or sharp teeth, instead drain the blood from their victims through a series of leech-like suckers on their finger-tips!

Death from above

Ambush is the name of the game when it comes to the Yara-ma-yha-who. They will dangle from a fig tree branch for as long as it takes to spot some vulnerable prey. Once an unsuspecting victim is directly beneath them, these creatures will then drop onto their backs, grappling them with their powerful arms and digging into them with their clawed feet, until they secure their leech-sucker fingers to vital arteries and veins across the creature’s body…ideally around the neck, and almost completely drain it of blood until it passes out. Their incredible strength allows them to dangle, silent and motionless for hours until the prefect target is within their grasp. The momentum that they gather from falling is often more than enough to knock their prey unconscious in a single blow, but those who remain conscious, get to witness this horrifying creature draw the life from them.

Transformative Gluttony

Once a creature is drained of it's blood and vulnerable, the Yara-ma-yha-who will then dislocate it’s massive, toothless jaws, like a snake and swallow their prey whole, storing the almost dead creature in their throats or stomachs. It’s tactics then fully switch to an intrinsic need to flee to safety with the body of it’s drained victim in tact. If it manages to get away to safety, it will find itself a safe, spot near a river or lake to sleep, and will begin to slowly transform the creature it swallowed. Once the yara-ma-yha-who wakes up, it will regurgitate it’s victim, drink some of the nearby water, and consume the victim a second time. The Yara-ma-yha-who then repeats this process over and over, adding more water to the blood sloshing around in it’s womb-like stomach. Every time it regurgitates it’s former victim, they shrivel, shrink and become redder and redder, losing their teeth and hair, until eventually, they are transformed into a Yara-ma-yha-who themselves…reborn and forever altered into another blood-hungry sprite.

ASBO-riginal

They're solitary creatures to avoid competing with eachother when hunting for people to jump down on. Additionally, due to their anti-social method of reproduction there’s no strict need for them to be communicative animals, saving their mouths to be a single muscular entrance to their stomachs or gestation and trandformation wombs.
