Divine Domain - Medani Prophet

The Mark of Detection grants heirs of House Medani mystical powers of perception, allowing them to see far more than others might be able to. Within the house exists an order known as the voice of Aureon, who are taught to use their dragonmarks to pierce the veil of time, catching glimpses of past and future. These are the Medani Prophets, and they treat their role as less of a choice and more of a calling. In all the myriad futures they observed, they always became a Prophet.

These spellcasters are often plagued by ghosts and shadows, where the air is filled with whispers of conversations between the long dead and those yet to be born - maddeningly elusive and constant. Those who travel seeking adventure do so to help shape the future, as well as observe it.

Rather than drawing power from a divine belief as most clerics do, a Medani Prophet draws upon the strength of time itself via their dragonmark to fuel their divine magic.

In order to take this subclass, you must be a half-elf with a Mark of Detection.

Dragonmark Magic

You may use your Dragonmark as a holy symbol for your spells, which works even when both your hands are occupied and the mark is covered.

Premonition

At 1st level you add your Wisdom modifier to your Initiative rolls. Your connection to the past also grants you insight into the future, and you gain proficiency in the Investigation skill.

From 10th level in this class, your proficiency bonus for Investigation is applied twice.

Prophetic Visions

By stepping into the role of Medani prophet, from 1st level you begin to receive powerful visions of the past and future. These rare and cryptic revelations are a tool for the DM to advance the story, and the frequency and nature of these visions is determined by the needs of the campaign. These visions often connect to your current location, such that you are far more likely to see an image of ancient battles between quori and giant if you are in Xen'drik.

Channel Divinity: Dragon's Shield

From 2nd level you can use your Channel Divinity as a reaction to safeguard yourself. When attacked, or you make a saving throw, you can invoke your mark's power to add +5 to your AC and +2 to all saving throws until the start of your next turn.

Channel Divinity: Foretelling

From 2nd level you can use your Channel Divinity as a bonus action to foretell a creature's actions. Choose a creature you can see. The DM will tell you the actions that creature will take on their next turn (including the targets) based upon the current state of the battlefield, and by doing so 'set' the future in place. At the start of the creature's turn, they must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be forced to attempt to carry out the foretold actions, even if they are more difficult (or even impossible) to accomplish now. On a successful save, they may (or may not) take different actions from those you had foretold.

Medani True Strike

From 6th level your detection abilities grant you blindsight out to 10ft. In addition, all your spells and attacks you make now ignore 1/2 or 3/4 cover.

You may touch a friendly creature as a bonus action on your turn to transfer this feature to them until the end of their next turn, at which point you regain it.

Potent Spellcasting

Starting at 8th level, you add your Wisdom modifier to the damage you deal with any cleric cantrip.

Visions of the Past

By reaching 17th level your grasp over your dragonmark's power enhances further. As part of a 10 minute ritual you may channel the power of your mark (which requires Concentration, as if concentrating on a spell) to ask three questions about the past regarding the area you are in.

You receive your answers as a combination of indistinct sensory impressions, as determined by the DM. For example, if you ask "Who killed Borestes?" you might learn it was a malf half-orc wielding an axe, but you would not know the name of the killer, though you may recognise him if you knew him from elsewhere. In general, however, the imagery is vague and blurred, though you might get a glimpse of a particularly vivid image - such as the killer's distinctive axe.

The answers you receive come not from any deity, but from your dragonmark's connection to the past. As such, treat the answers as coming from an effectively omniscient being. You will only receive responses to questions regarding events within your line of sight, and magical effects that would interfere with scrying would likewise conceal past events from this power.

The maximum period you can look back is 1 month. At 20th level, this increases to 1 year. Visions of the Past can be used once, refreshing on a long rest.

Enhanced Foretelling

From 17th level when a creature successfully makes their saving throw against your Foretelling feature, you regain the expended use of Channel Divinity immediately.
