The Sniper

You have spent years of practice and training to master the art of ranged combat. Skilled at precision shooting, more than any other fighter, you can inflict grievous damage onto your enemies from a distance.

Sniper Stance

Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, with the use of a Bonus Action, you can enter a Sniper Stance. While in the Sniper Stance, when you hit a target with a ranged weapon, once per turn you can target certain body parts to add one of the following effects:

  1. Leg Shot: Until the start of it's next turn, the target's speed is halved and it makes Dex saving throws with disadvantage.
  2. Arm Shot: Until the start of it's next turn, the target makes all attack rolls and Str Athletics checks with disadvantage.
  3. Gut Shot: The target takes an extra 1d6 damage. The damage type is the same as the initial damage. On every successive round, the target takes an additional 1d6 damage until it succeeds on a Con save versus your Str or Dex (your choice) save DC.
  4. Head Shot: Unitl the start of it's next turn, the target can't use reactions and can take either an Action or Bonus Action but not both. Additionally, it can only make 1 melee or ranged attack on it's turn regardless of it's abilities or magic items.

The target does not have to be a humanoid, but it must have analogous or appropriate anatomy to apply any of the above effects. The stance ends once you start to move. You can enter the stance 2 times per short or long rest. If the target must make a saving throw versus your save DC, the DC = 8 + Str or Dex mod + Proficiency Bonus.

Careful Eyes

Starting at 7th level, you excel at picking out hidden enemies and other threats. You can take the Search action as a bonus action. You also gain proficiency in the Perception, Investigation, or Survival skill (choose one).

Careful Aim

At 10th level, your accuracy is unparalleled when you take the time to precisely target your enemies. While you are in your Sniper Stance, if you have multiple attacks in a turn, you may forgo one of your attacks to make an attack with +10 bonus to the attack roll. You can do this once per turn.


Overwatch

At 15th level, your reflexes and skills with ranged combat have improved to the point where you can even protect your party members. When an ally that is within 30 ft of you is hit with a melee weapon attack by an enemy that is also within 30 ft of you, you can make 1 ranged weapon attack against that enemy as a reaction.

Kill Shot

At 18th level, you have reached the pinnacle of your skill as a sniper learning to fell even the most hardiest of enemies with a single shot. When you hit a target while taking Careful Aim (see above), the target takes an additional 75 damage. The damage type is the same as the original damage. You can use this ability twice per short or long rest.
