Half-Giant

Commonly confused with goliaths, the hulking half-giants are known all throughout the Material Plane for their physical abilities. While their births are rare, and reports of them even more so, having a half-giant on your side might attract some attention, but will let others know that you and your friends are not to be messed with.

Bastards of Giants

The birth of a half-giant is almost never intentional. They are mostly the result of giant raids on human settlements. Human mothers rarely survive the birth of a half-giant offspring. Half-giants are usually treated as runts in giant society, and are commonly bullied by their larger brothers and sisters. In human societies, however, half-giants are feared amongst the commoners for their size and strength and are commonly hired as solders, mercenaries, bodyguards, and thugs.

Fight for Acceptance

While half-giants are allowed in giant societies, they are rarely accepted as true giants. When speaking to or about a half-giant, most giants will instead refer to them as “half bloods” or, if they are talking about a half-giant of a different bloodline, they will replace the half with their giant type, such as “cloud bloods” for half-cloud giants or “frost bloods” for half-frost giants. Because of this, a half-giant will have to accomplish a great feat that would make their ancestors proud in order to be truly accepted as a giant. This feat could be a multitude of things, depending on the type of giant their related to. For a frost giant, it could be taming an adult remorhaz. For a hill giant, it could be eating the entire leg of an ancient dragon all by his or her self. Whatever it may be, it must be a great accomplishment any giant would be proud of.
