Bard College - College of Dragonsong

Dragons are often the subject of bardic tales - villainous dragons especially. Yet some bards choose not to merely sing of dragons, but to have their songs be imbued with draconic power, learning how to weave a dragon's natural magical state into their songs to enhance their allies.

Bards who have learned at the 'college' of dragonsong are as supportive as many other bards to their allies in combat, despite a dragon's typically solitary existence.

Dragonsong

When you take up this college at third level, you learn a Dragonsong. This can be activated as an action, using either a musical instrument of your voice. The dragonsong lasts up to 1 minute and requires your Concentration to maintain as if it were a spell. Its effects gain strength as you level, and it affects any creatures who can hear you.

Level Effect
3rd You grant all friendly creatures +2 Strength for the duration. This can exceed 20, but not 30.
8th All friendly creatures add your Charisma modifier to saving throws against being Frightened.
13th The Strength bonus increases from +2 to +4. This can exceed 20, but not 30.
18th When you initially activate your Dragonsong, any hostile creatures who have the Frightened condition must make an additional Wisdom saving throw. If they fail, they are now Charmed by you. Any creatures Charmed by you are Incapacitated until the dragonsong ends, until they take damage, or until another creature uses their action to shake them awake.

Dragonsong can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, refreshing on a long rest. At 20th level you can concentrate on another spell, in addition to your Dragonsong, but not two spells at once. If you are forced to make a Concentration check, you roll once, and on a failed roll you lose both the spell and the Dragonsong.

In addition, you know the Draconic language, if you did not already.

Dragonfire Inspiration

At 6th level your bardic inspiration becomes imbued with the flames of dragons. A creature who has your bardic inspiration dice can expend it on a successful weapon attack. When they do so they add a second dice and roll both, dealing the result in fire damage.

From 18th level, this changes to three dice.

Wreathsong

At 14th level you learn a special song which you can use as an action. Flames leap from your mouth or your musical instrument towards one creature of your choice than can hear you, wrapped around them in a tumultuous if temporarily harmless inferno. If the enwrapped creature moves, either of their own volition or forcefully, the fires detonate dealing 10d6 fire damage in a 30' radius to all creatures, friend and foe alike. A successful dexterity save halves this damage. You have Resistance to the damage from Wreathsong if it damages you.

Wreathsong lasts for 1d4+1 rounds, or until detonated, and can be used once before requiring a long rest.

DM Note

As standard Dragonfire Inspiration and Wreathsong deal fire damage, however there can be considerations for changing this given a compelling reason, such as if the bard is a Dragonborn of a particular heritage that would be associated better with another damage type.
