Dismantler Specialization

To truly understand how each intricate piece of a puzzle works, dismantlers have learned how to pick apart and break machinery so they can assemble their own just as quickly. All the destructive power you harbor is best used on objects and structures you wish to undo.

Subclass Features

Dismantler Spells

3rd-level Dismantler feature
You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Dismantler Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare or cantrips you know.

Breakdown

3rd-level Dismantler feature
When you cast a spell of 1st-level or higher that deals damage, you can end one of your Magical Tinkering properties to heighten the effect's volatility. When you roll the maximum result on a damage die for the spell, you can reroll that die and add both results to the total damage dealt.

Moreover, you know exactly how to build any object you’ve completely destroyed or taken apart within the last month and can do so in half the time it would normally take to make.

Disassemlby

5th-level Dismantler feature
You can have any spell you cast treat each part of an object or structure that’s able to fit within a 5-foot cube as a construct instead. Further, you can target these objects and structures exclusively by expending one of your spell slots or ending one of your artificer infusions.

These targets typically follow the “Statistics For Objects” rules and use its AC for all its ability scores. If the spell reduces one of these target to 0 hit points, you can have it disassembled into its constituent pieces or into a separated 5-foot cube of the object or structure. You can have the disassembled target fall to the ground without anymore damage or appear in an open space within 5 feet of you.

Recycling

9th-level Dismantler feature
When you disassemble a target with your Disassembly, you can use the parts to build a new object no larger than the original as a part of the same action. If the new object can bear one of your artificer infusions, you can imbue it with one of your choice until you use this feature again or you end this artificer infusion. This infusion does not count against the maximum number of items you can infuse at once.

Sledgehammer Tactics

15th-level Dismantler feature
Your destructive nature allows your damage to be doubled against objects, structures, and constructs.

Further, you can cast the spell elemental baneXGE at 4th level using a spell slot of any level and can do so as a bonus action if the spell slot is 4th level or higher.

Subclass Implementation

If you are unsure on how to implement the Subclass into your game world, here are some suggestions on how to do so.

Creating Dismantler Professions

A Dismantler is a highly sought after profession due to their ability to recycle materials and their ability to break an object into reusable pieces. Some dismantlers focus on demolition, some focus on butchering, and some focus on reverse-engineering.

Quests To Be The Subclass

A collection or quests to become the subclass.

Destructive Favor. A mage you know asks you to destory one of their volatile magic fuel reactors without it going critical. The task requires precision.

Prison Break. The only way to get out of a prison you've been confined to is by tunneling out quickly and quietly. Several guards wander above where you need to tunnel and taking anymore time would put you at risk of punishment.

Quests Involving The Subclass

A collection of quests that involve a Artificer.

Scrap Scrounging. The local lord asks the party to gather as many materials as they can from a recently used battlefield so that their dismantlers can analyze the equipment used and devise a countermeasure against an approaching opposing force that will arrive the following day. Many things may go wrong during this mission such as the enemy force arriving early, survivors making a stand against the adventurers, a third party hoarding all the needed materials, etc.

Ruining Ruins. The party has been tasked with escorting a dismantler to various ruins in order to recycle the materials.
