Esköllus

Once ruled over by dunes and destitution, the unrealized potential of the canine race has since become (in)famously known to underworld.

The Esköllus Federation

Esköllus didn't begin as the slave trading capital of the world, claws sunk into every pocket and purse that opened itself up for the opportunity to satisfy their perverse fantasies. No, the mighty canine monopoly has modest roots, its story spanning the pages of multiple murauding tribes all vying for control over the ever-dwindling resources the great Atapona desert so mercifully offers its brave denizens.

-

It was only upon the event of one fitful eve that the six tribal leaders were united, following the glowing trail of the mythical alicanto; a dream had beckoned them, lighting their path to a cave so rich in ore that no single tribe could ever hope to harvest all of it in their lifetime. So, a compromise was made, a pact formed: They would work together to harvest the ore, and they would share the fruits of their collective labor amongst each other.

-

A new age of prosperity blessed the foundling dogs with favorable trade and distant connections. For over a century, the canine race enjoyed luxury and status, expanding their operations to mines near and distant - When came along the proud Equestrians; They came in like a plague, banner raised high in righeous pride as theye expelled the dogs from what had become their ancestral home. They took everything, and burned down the rest. In the span of two days, over two centuries of progress had been razed. The dogs, having fostered good relations with their griffon comrades, were granted a plot of land to rebuild in recognition of their services to the winged predators. There... they plotted revenge.

-

During a summons of great importance, the Six Clan chieftaiuns convened for what would soon be the birth of Esköllus, using intel and the tools provided by their allies to forge a plan of attack, and retake their lost honor in an epic battle that saw to the end of the Equestrian threat. The legion's commander was taken before those who served udner her and made an example: soon, all of ponykind would know these dogs, who united under a common cause, were not to be taken lightly, and they would take what they please, as was their rightheous role bestowed upon them by Hati himself, who blazed in triumph on the dawn of their victory.

-

On that fateful day, Esköllus was born.

What is Esköllus?

Esköllus is the name of the collective that falls under the jurisdiction of The Six Clans. The vast majority of these members consists of clan members and other previously unalligned diamond dogs, but other species are still valid for induction.

What does Esköllus mean?

The name "Esköllus" is derived from Sköll, the name of the submissive female aspect that is forever bound to service Hati, the dominant male aspect. Esköllus was named so for taming the ponies; taking control of the female aspect for their own use. Using slaves as a source of labor and pleasure, as well as an excellent resource for trade, Esköllus has risen to new heights on the backs of their former oppressors, although not all of the clans are satisfied with this outcome.

Where is Esköllus?

Esköllus as it is toray isn't one specific place, but rather a network of covert settlements sprinkled all over the globe, hidden in plain sight or obscured by layers of earth.

What has become of "The Six Clans"?

The Six Clans (The Six, or simply The Clans) have taken it upon themselves to manage elements of Esköllus relevant to their unique skillsets. Outside of minor clans, which will be noted under each relevant section, the major Clans are as follows, in aphabetical order:

Adhara

Empathetic and masters of the games nobles play, Adhara could find no better suited task than that of diplomats and ambassadors. Where foreign relations are concerned, Adhara steps in to cool tempers and break bread. Of course, being what they are- and what they are a part of- it can be said that not all members of this clan are as... candid as they may appear.

Adhara are generally Spaniels, Retrievers, Poodles and Setters

Procyon
If you were ever asked how the Northern Clans came to be united under one banner, it was due to the diligence of these miracle workers. Previously an agricultural community focused on meeking out whatever trifle hospitality the frozen land would provide them, once they answered the call of Betelguese, their luck changed. Selected for their hardy nature and unyielding optimism, they earned the place of 'diplomats' of a sorts for the often fueding clans that joined their great collective. It was slow going at first, but once the two worked together to create the first ever arctic orchard, things turned around for them. They created a wine and, using this, convinced the remaining clans to join them. Shamal (or "Winter Wine") is said to cool down even the hottest temper, and is renowned for its crispness.

Melion

The middle-man when it comes to transactions between Esköllus and outside powers. Armed with a magic ring, they make contact with various criminal organizations around the world, making quick friends and granting Esköllus access to black markets and exotic goods.

Aludra

Expert alchemists with a life-long dedication to botany and medicine. Members of this clan are indispensable assets, legends telling of their mere touch being capable of curing any ailment.

Aludra are generally Collies, sheepdogs, and corgis (and St. Bernards.)

Rigel
"Cold and clinical" are apt descriptors for these frigid dogs. Hailing from the unforgiving North, they learned to survive at any and all costs- however, they learned, over time, how to mitigate those costs, making them some of the best nurses and surgeons Esköllus has to offer. Legend says that they severed the frostbitten toe of their chief when he was seperated from the pack for a short time.

Rigel are generally snow wolves

Aralez
Nobody quite knows the full story of how the Aralezner came to be, but one does stand out above the rest: Long ago, Ara The Fair was engaged in a hideous conflict with the seapony queen. Many brave dogs died on the bloodstained rocks, and many ponies as well. In a bid to put an end to the bloodshed, Ara rode out to meet the enemy queen on the battlefield during one final push. Legend says that on that day, the fair hound was slain. Afterwards, mourning the death of her enemy, the seapony queen used her magical powers to revive her, and the brave that had fallen on the battlefield. Ever since then, Ara has lived on, sporting magnificent white wings and the power to heal with her very touch. She and her Brave make up House Aralez.

Aralezner are former members of Dabilla, and are all white hounds.

Dabilla
House Dabilla is something of a hybrid between Aludra and Muliphein, possessing both military and medical personnel. Dabilla occupies shores, coastal settlements and, occassionally, underwater settlements that can accomodate them. Dabilla specializes in aquatic rescue, aquatic missions (which the militant part takes part in: think Navy Seals), and even some parts diplomacy, borrowing memebrs of Adhara when needed.
Capitolino
When Esköllus imports so many mammals, it is only natural that dairy farming would become an emergent profession. Taking charge of expectant mares and donated slaves, they are responsible for the production of nearly all dairy amongst the dogs.

Sirona
.

Bau
Agricultural specialists, House Bau is responsible for keeping the slaves fed and nourished, as well as providing what plant diet dogs consume. They are herb growers, and have adopted the herb as their own personal symbol. They are absolutely vital to the continued success of Esköllus, and do not discriminate against dog breed. House Bau works closely with House Amarok.
Anput
Consisting of nursing mothers and those soon-to-be, Anput consists of pediatricians, and is responsible for the well being of young pups. House Anput is also the lead researcher of antitoxins, utilizing the assistance of her 'kebechet', a range of different snakes she keeps in possession for just such a purpose.

Anput has a soft spot for jackals, and the head of the House is also the wife of Anubis.

Asclepius
It is said that the "Asclepiades" will cut unborn children from the wombs of deceased mothers, and that once upon a time, they were tasked with safeguarding a child of Hati alongside a goat. Asclepius are technically classified as combat medics, and trained both in the ways of Muliphein and Aludra. However, medicine and healing comes before combat, and their primary role is to protect their kin by any means neccesary.

Atakoroka

Vicious dogs that carry a pen much mightier than the blade of their would-be adversary. Their greed is surpassed only by their fluency, their affinity for politics rivalled only by their familiarity with good business. When you need a law passed, a business managed, or simply an open ear to spill sweet secrets into, these are your dogs for the job.

Atakoroka are generally Hounds, Terriers, Labs and Curs

Betelguese
The Great House of the Northern Clans, and now a subsidiary of a greater power, Clan Betelguese once worked alongside arctic elk to manage the mongrels of their frozen wasteland. They were described as a brilliant star that shone through the darkest of nights, a burning fire that cast away the cold. They often came into conflict with Rigel, whom operated under their jurisdiction. Clan Betelguese has adopted the red butterfly as their symbol since being inducted into the ranks of Esköllus.

Lavady
Once messenger's for the cervines of Roe's River, these faithful hounds have earned a reputation amonsgt the clans of Esköllus as the most expedient, as well as the most efficient delivery dogs. Legend says two hounds, Bran and Sceolan, served Queen Roe herself, and were blessed with her magic to be able to travel anywhere in the world with just one leap.

Lavady are generally hounds.

Gelert
It is said that a dog once went mad protecting a pony foal, murdering her kin as they tried to part her with the baby. Surely, Sköll had broken her chains and drove her to hysteria, so she had to be bound twicemore and filled with the seed of truth. Only once she had conceived the divine truth was she able to see the error of her ways, and plead for forgiveness. The synods saw her and knew she was truthful, and so she was given a second chance. However, they also came to realize the merit of her sinful actions, and that raising the spawn of Sköll's chosen (The ponies) is the duty of the dogs. So, they shackled Gelert and her matronly followers with this duty, ever watchful for a relapse into madness.

Gelert is responsible for 'Kenels' under special conditions: 1. They must be 'blessed with the seed of truth' lest they lose their way. 2. They must bear the shcakles of responsbility at all times, for they are vulnerable to Sköll's rebellious spirit. Gelert are typically hounds.

Amarok
Descended from the terrible dire wolves of yore, Amarok once prowled the frozen North . They were solitary hunters, devouring anything that crossed their path- including other canines. However, these beasts sometimes spared those searching for strength, providing it in brutal trials and lessons that tested their mortality. Now, Amarok have joined with the great canine confederation, attempting to satisfy their insatiable hunger with an endless supply of fatty recipes and exotic delicasies.

Amarok are usually gray foxes, but they will apprentice most dogs who show a willingess to learn their craft.

Orthrus
After the rise of Esköllus, the dogs needed a way to herd the frightful ponies and keep them in line. While most dogs could do this to an acceptable degree, the situation was still far from the Six's satisfaction- then came along a sphinxess and her entourage of orthrus. Nobody asked any questions, nobody even knew what questions ask. She lent them her two-headed companions, and the great beasts taught the select volunteers how to properly handle ponies. Since then, the sphinxess has inducted herself into the ranks of dogs, settled upon her throne of luxury and wealth as her orthtrus educate the ignorant masses. They asked her what her House should be called, and she asked her companion. The name decided upon was Orthrus.

House Orthrus does not answer directly to the Six, but instead to Empress Echidna. It is up to her discretion who joins and leaves House Orthrus. Members of this house are marked by their leonine attire. To prove themselves, they must first slay a lion because, in Echidna's exact words, "If you can handle a lion, you can handle a pony." Or it may have gone "If you can't handle a lion, you can't handle a pony." The exact wording is up for debate.

Maera
House Maera imports and exports wine and other forms of alcohol amongst the many subterannean settlements of Esköllus. Just as well, they are also particularly skilled in winemaking and brewing, earning them the mantle of winemakers (and brewers). Their symbols is a bunch of grapes accompanied by a strain of wheat, and they are very good at what they do.

Maera are typically hounds, but they'll accept anyone who can makea decent drink.

Sarama
The 'divine bitches' or 'bitches of Esköllus ' are an expeditionary team that formed a House for political reasons. They are light on their feet, and frequently conscript the services of House Ophois to help them in their operations. They are also called 'the fortunate ones' as there have been many a successful venture into the unknown that brought back valuable artifacts and relics of the past.

Sarama memebrs mark themselves with a 'brindle' pattern (Kind of like tiger stripes) and can be any breed so long as they can keep their wits about them.

Sìth
House Sìth is more of a financial guild, and manages Esköllus' economy. They are bankers, money launderers, financial advisers and all breeds of gold-toothed minters. They make money flow where it needs to flow, and have also taken credit for harming the economies of opposing factions- such as Abyssinia.

Sìth employ the use of enslaved breezies to assist in their duties, and are marked by a green dye- if they are not entirely green themselves. Sìth are usually labs or terriers.

Volsung
Educating the juvenile future of Esköllus is House Volsung. Founded on the principles of Geri the Wise and Freki the Fastidious, Volsung teaches the dogs love, courage, wisdom, and the power of the pack. Love their gods, who provide dogs with power and pleasure. Have courage in the face of adversity. Make wise decisions in all things that you do, and above all, the pack is everything.

Furud

While most dogs have a knack for digging, their skill pales in comparison to the prowess of a member of Furud. Capable of breaking apart virtually any substance they get their paws on, these artisans of earth can just as easily assemble these terran ingredients into fortified bastions and hardy homes. Furud is called on for construction and maintenance, and is solely responsible for Esköllus' established underground network of tunnels.

Pollux
Named after the ancient measuring tool, the "cubit", of ancient Mesoponytamia, Clan Pollux excels in precise measurements, often coordinating construction efforts with a stern glare and a sharp eye. No imperfections pass by the keen senses of 'the two front paws.

Kyôn
The Golden Dogs of Kyôn were said to have been forged by Failinis himself to guard the she-wolf Capitolino as she nursed early dogs on her milk. Afterwards, they forged the tools and weapons those early dogs would need to thrive, thus earning themsleves a legendary status amongst Esköllus. However, other sources claim that the Golden Dogs were merely Capitolino's pack, and that Failinis himself hails from this early House.

Failinis refuses to clarify on the matter.

Sirius
Artisans and crafters of great works, House Sirius takes pride in being the shining jewel or Furud. Diamonds decorate their figures and very name, and even some of their tools, such as drills. Sirius is responsible for many great sculptures and works of art, but mostly they are lent credit for decorating dog structures, such as carvings of Sköll & Hati.

Sirius is mostly rottweilers.

Muliphein

Natural born warriors with a thirst for blood and a mind for battle. From birth, these young pups are raised to embrace the art of war, becoming mighty generals or simple security officers. Muliphein handles all martial matters, but often delegates specialized tasks to lesser clans for organizational purposes.

Muliphein are generally Shepherds, Mastiffs, Rottweilers and Doberman

Capella
Also known as "The Haedi", Clan Capella is an oddity amongst the militant branches of the great tree that is Muliphein; they employ the service of goats instead of ponies, and the acting staff consists almost entirely of either sibling pairings or duos, both of which are male and female. What's stranger still is the leader of this clan, a particulraly clever St. Bernard. The clan originated in the North, managing themselves in the frozen wastes alongside other lesser clans to survive.

Rin
Accounting for most if not all law-enforcement in Esköllan outposts, House Rin keeps the peace... And may, occassionally, cause some chaos when on the pursuit. The most commonly known members of House Rin are called 'commisars.'

Rin are generally pitbulls and mastiffs

Cavall
House Cavall, the noble hunters, and prized guardians of Failinis' artifacts. Wherever they have a presense, you can be assured that place is of particular relevance to Esköllus. They are the true royal guard of Esköllus, and one of the only houses that does not discriminate against breed; they accept all dogs of talent, regardless of background, so long as they are deemed loyal to the cause.

Cavall can be any breed.

Laelaps
The legendary hunting dogs of House Laelaps are said to never miss a target, destined to catch their prey as if imbued with some divine power. Part of their success may be in part due to the enchanted equipment that has been bestowed upon them, created within the roaring forges of Failinis: one of these is a magic javelin blessed with unerring accuracy, and the next is a set of Talos armor, seven suits of armor specifically tailored to each indivisual of House Laelaps. Laelaps is deployed on high priority headhunts.

Laelaps are usually hounds.

Venatici
Literally "Hunters", House Venatici was a minor clan but skilled in tracking and capturing prey. Venatici hunt primarily via sight, and practice 'feathering' rituals after a successful hunt.

Venatici are usually saluki.

Luison
Best known as the grave guard, House Luison is charged with protecting the sacred burial grounds of the fallen, and are garrisoned in graveyards
Ophois
The openers of ways, House Ophois consists of scouts that are often deployed for primary Muliphein operations. They are not trained for battle, nor hunting, but they are okay with a mace and bow. Their symbol is a wolf standing at the prow of a solar boat.
Faeladh
Descended from old norse raiders, House Faeladh carries out raids on pony soil and otherwise. They are renowned for their savagery and sexual potency, and are integral to the success of Esköllus' slave trade. When they're out on the field, dogs like to say they're "out wolfing."

Faeladh are usually wolfhounds, and occasionally cooperate with changelings.

Culhainn
.

Garmr
House Garmr are the wardens of Hel, a prison for the damned and a place that is distinctly cut off from the sun. Dogs sent here are stripped of their masculinity (if they have it) and subjected to constant torment. Garmr paint a second pair of eyes under their real ones so that they may be ever-vigilant, and douse their paws in the blood of sinners so that they may not be tainted by their charges.

Wezen

Synonymous with the phrase "cloak and dagger", Wezen's range of influence is as much a mystery as its members. Nobody knows who could be a Wezen spy, but their presense cannot be denied; those who vocalize their opinions a little too strongly are often found dead- if they're found at all. Loyalty to the clans, dear pups. For disloyalty is a price paid in blood.

Cadejo
Unbeknowst to the other Houses, Wezen has honed a tool of great potential- both destructive and protective. The Cadejo are protectors and avengers, mighty blades and stalwart shields. The white cadejo will appear without notice, and accompany dogs of great importance to their destination. During this time, no harm will come to them. The black cadejo, by contrast, kills its target and is never seen, nor ever heard. These are the assassins of House Wezen, just as the white cadejo are guardian angels.

Cadejo are typically briads.

"Processing"

Processing, as the name may imply, is the system through which ponies and other creatures are involuntarily (Or, in rare instances, voluntarily) inducted into Esköllus' economy. That is to say, they're officially branded as slaves.

How it works

Typically, Muliphein assigns House Faeladh to targets of opportunity picked out of pony civilizations, whether they be lowly peasants or high-ranking indivisuals. Muliphein does not discriminate between targets, so long as they are able to retrieve the target with minimal exposure.

Muliphein may assign targets due to bribes or special request, usually by pony nobility or influencial members of other species, but most often makes their selection based off of convenience. If they can, they will, so long as the risk does not outweigh the reward.

After retrieval, a Faeladh team will escort the prisoner to the nearest Esköllus outpost, where processing officially begins:

  • For ponies (Pegasi, unicorns, earth ponies, etc.) they are lead into a chamber where they are branded with the Mark of Sköll, a moon (If a mare) or the Mark of Hati, a sun (If a stallion). These marks function identically, and are purposefully placed above the cutie mark. They compel the pony to obey the orders of their canine masters, and override any sort of resistance. Every dog is taught the command words, but they only work for dogs (And a select few changelings.)
  • Non-pony creatures are branded in much the same way.

After receiving their brand, ponies (and other creatures) may receive special treatment. For unicorns this includes a horn-ring.

After processing is complete, creatures are seperated into two categories: Male and Female.

Outside of special circumstances, males are always sent off to work camps or a slaughterhouse. Females, however, are assigned to House Orthrus trainers, who educate her on proper ettiquite for a slave. Slaves of high value may receive extra training.

After the new slave is trained and processed, they are put on the market and sold.

Esköllus Society

While the members of Esköllus are far from what one would call harmonious, they still exhibit a unity that even Equestrians may find envious. United under one 'righeous' cause to restore the natural order; that of the strong, and that of the weak.

Relations

Esköllus, at its core, is more an idea than a tangible person, place, or thing. The ambitious diamond dogs (and other species) have spanned the entire globe, their terranean settlements connected by subterranean roadways and trade routes. As such, not only does their discreet lifestyle allow them to covertly transfer slaves and other elicit goods without drawing undue attention, but it allows their various global partners to maintain their public facade as they foster connections to the Esköllus underworld.

Among these valuable allies, the most notable are:

Griffons

The tribe's relationship with the ferocious felines began, as with their unification, in the vaunted wasteland of which they used to call home. In need of food to sustain their swelling numbers, the diamond dogs sent scouts out to explore the borders of their known world. During one of these exploration missions, one such team encountered our favorite cat-birds, doing much the same. They quickly reported back to their superiors, and a meeting was scheduled soon after. In return for food and other such essentials, the diamond dog tribes would supply the griffons of 'Rokstone' with valuable building materials and precious gems.

Their relationship has persisted to this day, propogated through their original connection, and enhanced by lust and avarice.

Changelings

Being subterranean for the most part, their meeting was inevitable. However, unlike the xenophobic Equestrians, the diamond dogs embraced the equine arthropods, quick to strike a deal with them. Changelings are often deployed beside Faeladh raiding parties in order to make abductions easier and more discreet. In return, changelings earn a cut of their profit, as well as slaves of their own. Changelings also provide unique magic to Esköllus.

Holidays

Like every culture, Esköllus celebrates a number of different holidays, most of them variations of pagan celebrations absorbed into Esköllus through other clans.

Red Light Festival

It is said that upon a red moon, wolves go mad and bitches are plagued with delirium. Sköll has biten her master, and stained herself with blood. the rebellious spirit rages on this night, and senseless dogs bare their teeth at their masters- as such, on this night of all nights, they must be tamed. A great scene is made of this, as much a celebration for taming their bitches as it is for the latter to run free and howl at the moon withour consequence. Faux hunts are hosted, orgies consume every street and alley, and blood is spilt as whip and teeth find their mark. It is a macabre sight, but one that's distinctly arousing and gets the blood pumping.

The Cerberus Festival

The Cerberus Festival is an Orthrus festival in honor of Cerberus and his guardianship over the gates of Tartarus, keeping his kin in the mortal realm safe from the vast horrors that dwell within its dark confines. Dogs celebrate this day by making offerings to the three-headed-dog by ritualistically burning food offerings, mostly meat. In doing so, they beleive the food is transported to Tartarus, where Cerberus may be nourished by the finest meats canine cuisine. Dogs also tend to dress in the likeness of Cerberus, most notably by creating two fake heads that theyw ear on their shoulders. These heads may or may not look like the actual Cerberus.

The Mikoshi Festival

It is said that long ago, a feline demon fell in love with a young bitch. She refused his advances, and in response, he hid himself away in her vagina and bit off the cocks of her two suitors when they went to bed. The bitch was troubled by this- after all, how would she receive Hati's blessing now? - and called upon House Kyôn to forge her a solution. Kyôn knew exactly how to banish the demon, and created a gleaming cock of sunlight (gold) which purged the demon from her body. The Golden Cock then became an icon of purity, and is now paraded around canine settlements on an anual festival of purity. On this day, dogs create phallic-shaped foods and objects in honor of Hati and his good deeds. On this day, dogs also regularly purge the unclean spirits of female slaves (And some male) with golden cocks.

The event is hosted and organized by House Fuxi, who call the Golden Cock the "Mikoshi."

Economy

Esköllus society trades in copper, silver, and gold coins called "Zenny". 10 coppers = 1 Silver. 10 Silver =1 gold. While gold coins sport an image of the sun/Hati embossed in the center, and silvers contain the moon/Sköll, coppers actually contain a depiction of Capitolino, the legendary she-wolf sho nursed early dogs to health.

House Sìth manages zenny within Esköllus. Also, some dogs may refer to coppers as "Milk money" for cultural reasons. They may also use this when referring to a notably small amount of zenny. "I don't want none of your damn milk money. Pay me what I'm owed!"

Faith

The House of Faith

Mirzam

Literally meaning "Herald", House Mirzam was created to address the issue of faith amongst the newly confederated clans. Although most dogs call them "Synods", they are still respected memebrs of society that serve an purpose, such as holding rituals, hosting important events, blessing pups, etc. .

The Synodic Faith

The ruling faith of Esköllus, almost exclusively pratised by diamond dogs. The ruling theology dictates that Hati, the sun who dominated the sky, impregnated the wayward moon, Sköll, whom was bound in beams of sunlight to prevent her from escaping. Sköll was a flighty thing, sinfully whimsical and negligent in her duties as a guide for those lost in the darkness of the unknown. This shameful disregard for responsibility inspired rebellion in her followers, who ran wild under the moonlight, shirkung their duties as well. Only once Hati had bound her and impregnated her with the truth was she tamed. This truth, injected through the purgatory fire of creation, became the first seed of intelligence, birthed as a shining star that shone down on the world and blessed those who gazed upon it with an understanding of this divine truth.

Sköll

The female aspect, and the moon. Her domain is fertility, subservience, and rebellion. A whimsical spirit, left to her own devices she would incite mass mania and anarchy, thus she must be bound to the will of Hati in order to serve the world and her master.

She has a special connection to wolves, the first of her followers, and howling at the moon is considered a regression to old ways and an overt expression of rebellion in Esköllus society.

Hati

The male aspect, and the sun. His domain is creation, dominance, domestication, and order. He is a stern father and a strict master, always maintaining a level head no matter how chaotic the situation.

Hati is revered by Clan Atakoroka for his coolness during stress, just as Muliphein calls on him to keep their head steady during war.

The Afterlife

It is beleived that, after death, all dogs go to Tartarus- However, as a warden or resident is the real question. Dogs who serve Hati well in life (Most of Muliphien and some bitches) will find themselves standing alongside Cerberus himself, protecting their mortal kin in the land of the living for all of time. This is considered a great honor for warriors, and to die in battle is to witness an endless dawn. Adopting the mantle of sentinel is also to protect their solar creator, as it is also beleived that Hati resides primarily in the mortal realm to provide the living with life and guidance, and would thus be interrupted should the gates of tartaus be opened, and the monsters inside freed.

Followers of Sköll meet a different fate, serving in death just as they did in life as they work the Asphodel Fields to supply their stalwart defenders with food. Perhaps predictably, they are also responsible for pleasuring their masters, allowing them to maintain a clear mind free of 'stress.' Some dogs also beleive that those bitches may serve Cerberus himself as his own personal harem, a great honor amongst the lunar canines.

Technology

Esköllus, despite their primitive appearance, have actually managed to create a variety of unique tools suited for their lifestyle.

Sköll's collar

Largely indistinguishable from a regular collar, Sköll's collar is inlaid with special enchantments meant to interact with other magical items, and more or less bind them to the wearer. It is a conduit, in short, and a benign one.

The plug

Typically inset with a gem on the base, the plug interacts with Sköll's collar, and provides a myriad of 'enhancements' to the physiology of the wearer. Notably, the plug's enchantments will seek out erogenous zones on the body and apply a low level of steady stimulation to them (Typically the crotch and frogs for ponies), while also expanding the dimensions of their stomach and... Other cavities to avoid overflow. An optional enchantment will shock the wearer if they begin to lose conciousness.

Legend & Myth

Esköllus , like any large society, possesses a culture rich in fables and fairy tales, some of them even true.

Failinis Forge

Notable Landmarks

Nintinugga

The heart of power for House Bau, Nintinugga is the underground land of life, where all manner of flora may flourish and prosper under the light of the artificial star, Ezen. This feat of magical engineering could be created by none other than Failinis himself, so that the members of House Bau- and all dogs- may find sanctuary in their kindom of darkness. Nintinugga is analagous with The Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Hel

Ossory

The legendary groves of House Faeladh's druids. Here, old norse dogs whet their wits and gather wisdom, guided by the ancient ways of the deer. Ossory is a miraculous forest hidden under the earth, the exact location of which is only known by a select few members of Faeladh and, with exception, Lavady as well.

All canine druids hail from Ossory and are sworn to secrecy.

Major Historical Events

The Semiramis War

The Semiram War took place between the old Clan Debilla and the seaponies of Semiram. It is said that the horned queen, Semiram, had declared that she would own Ara the Fair as her personal concubine, and so launched a camapign to capture her. There were many casualties on both sides, and when Ara the Fair took to the battlefield in defense of her Brave, she was slain. Semiram, overcome by grief, used her magic to bring the fair hound back to life, coincadentally transfiguring them into winged dogs in the process. After the formation of Esköllus, these became the Aralezner, and the mad queen Semiram was dehorned and enslaved by House Dabilla. Her signature goat-like ram horns are a point of pride for Dabilla, and it is beleived the horns still possess echoes of the power of the deposed queen.

Destruction of Abyssinia

Abyssinia, the land of the cats, has alwasy been a subject of great ire amongst the dogs.
