Oath of Exploration

The Oath of Exploration is focused on traveling to new places and discovering new things. The paladins who take this oath may be driven by a curiosity to travel the realms, a desire to discover long lost treasures and unknown artifacts, or a missionary zeal to spread their culture to uncontacted peoples.

Tenets of Exploration

Paladins that swear the Oath of Exploration may have differing vows, but their oaths follow these tenets.

Curiosity. Go forth with an open mind to learn as many new things as you can.

Courage. Shrink not in fear from the unknown, but embrace the unknown to uncover its mysteries.

Adaptability. Remain flexible to navigate new and unpredictable situations.

Thouroughness. The greatest treasures may be found in the most fantastical of places, or the most mundane.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

  • Press Onward. When you are forced to move against your will, you can use your Channel Divinity as a reaction to immediately move up to your speed. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.
  • Divine Eye. As a bonus action, you can use your Channel Divinity to gain a +5 bonus on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks for 10 minutes.

Aura of Intrepidity

At 7th level, moving through difficult terrain does not cost extra movement for you and any creatures of your choosing within 10 feet of you.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Well Spotted

At 15th level, you are a master at using your keen eye to your benefit. When you succesfully find a hidden object, you have advantage on subsequent ability checks you make to determine what the object is and on any saving throws you are forced to make by the object.

When you succesfully find a hidden creature, you have advantage on any saving throws that creature forces you to make for the next minute and that creature has disadvantage on attack rolls it makes targeting you for the next minute, or until the creature successfully hides from you.

Indomitable Explorer

At 20th level, your expeditions are next to unstoppable. As an action, you gain the following benefits for 1 hour:

  • You gain truesight with a range of 120 feet.
  • Your speed increases by 10 feet and you gain climbing and swimming speeds equal to your walking speed.
  • You can take the Search action as a bonus action.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a 5th level spell slot to use it again.
