Rotfang's Journal
In your hands is a journal, the cover a sticky leather material, and the pages old and weather. The ink, a deep maroon, of red and blacks mixed together. It appears homemade. The first half of the book is filled with script, however, water damage has caused most of the writing to become illegible. However, near the end of the book, you can see the final chapters, still protected from the weather by the other pages themselves.
Day 362 post pack
"The pack has grown weak and complacent. The Wild Hunt will soon attack. Dragons make their home inside their walls. Dragons they call enemy. They freely feast with them, they laugh with them, they plot with them. They breed with them. This disgusts."
"Lerwick will become strong again. All I do now. I do for Lerwick."
Day 363 - post pack
"The walls of stone are ready. Danger now only comes from the sky. Feasting is good. The iron watchers are prepared. They agree. We are the wall and we will not crumble."
Day 368 - post pack
"The sky thundered, and fury and fire rained. Rotfang was right. Dragons from the city now in the keep. The guards died. Hahahahah. Wind and falls. Hahahahhaa. The dragon was defeated by Rotfang. He has tasted dirt and blood. The joy of the fight. Rotfang is the strongest Gnoll. Dragon loses blood, and I remain standing! HAHAHAHAHA."
Day 18 - Post Castle
"Tin Man banishes Rotfang. The land of feasts and fury. The screams are delightful. The food is rich. More have challenged Rotfang than ever. He is fat on their bones. Rotfang wonders though. Food no longer challenges. The ground dies. Rotfang shall move soon."
Day 487 - Post Castle
"None have come for Rotfang. Not one headache message. None send or seek. Rotfang was right again. Lerwick is corrupted by their dealings with foul creatures. Red Princes and Dragons and Demons and Ice Hunters. If none have come for Rotfang, Rotfang knows now that guild loyalty All-Stalker spoke of was more lies. LIES!"
Day 687 - Post Castle
"Two have come for Rotfang. One has challenged. The Warlock and the Grave. They have freed Rotfang from this failed land. They have allowed Rotfang to battle himself. HIMSELF hahahahahahAHAHAHAH!. They have given Rotfang a new name. Rotfang dies today. Beast, the Count of Freezing Winter's Bite lives."
Day 692 - Post Castle
"These ones have given Beast his name. They have given Beast his title. They have given Beast an army of those like him. They ask nothing but for his strength. Beast will provide.
Day 712 - Post Castle
"Beast has scoured his troops. One in five feed the bellies. The weak are culled. Beast will lead his army. He will turn his army towards Lerwick. They deserve not Beast's help. They sent him here. They abandoned him. They failed him. He gives them a lifetime of strength and loyalty, and they exile him. But Beast is forever loyal. Beast will use these Gnolls. He will save them from the Red Court. He will save them from the Dragons. He will save them from themselves.... Beast just has to do one job first... he must get his army away from the Dread Legion...."
